David McGoldrick on trial with Sheffield United, according to East Anglian Times.
first weekend in the Championship. disappointing to Not See Judge get a start or obenge be involved for brentford. No sign of cotter or mcloughlin for ipswich. Nice to See manning involved for QPR under a new manager. Sheffield utd with mcgoldrick Stevens and egan starting but will any Of them be first choice for us? Same with reading mcshane, kelly(?), and meyler starting unlikely to be first choice for us. Nice to See o Brien Scorecard for millwall Nyt where does he fit for Us? Nothing New and exciting From Irish perspective On first Championship weekend. Nice to see curtis Start for portsmouth might be interesting to See if he can kick on
For this season our probable striking set-up is basically Long, Walters plus two/three from Maguire, Hogan, McGoldrick, O'Brien, Robinson and Burke. Maguire is likely the prime candidate for one of the spots based on his form last season, but will be out injured for the next couple of international games so this may open the door for the others to impress. It will be one of MON's challenges to choose the best options from that group.
Anthony Stokes' first goal in Iran, Conrad Logan's 50th appearance for Mansfield Town, Jonathan Hayes returns from injury and more in the first round up of 2018/19: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Blog...33857953731578

Coleman is wrong for Everton.
Today's question:
Name the two Irish players who played in the Premier League 2017/18 season but have not played senior international football for Ireland
Obafemi at Southampton is one.
Josh Cullen the other?
yep, well done! I've been updating the stats for the Premier League on the site over the summer, and now I'm confident on the appearance data I have for all Premier League seasons. With that in mind, I checked out what Irish players have played in the Premier League, and have not (yet) earned a senior international cap. There's 42 altogether, including Obafemi and Cullen: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Blog...32700603167034
Today's question: when was the last time Ireland named a starting XI of players who have played in the Premier league
Hint: it was under the current manager
Before the new Premier League season kicks off tomorrow, I wondered how many times an Ireland team has been named with 11 starting players who have played in the top division in England: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Blog...08275780745828
Final question before the new premier league season starts, when was the last time Ireland named a starting XI of players who were all at premier league clubs?
Hint: it hasn't happened under the current, or previous manager

Good day for Ronan Curtis, 2 for Pompey so far.

Jake Doyle Hayes in midfield with Glenn Whelan and Conor Hourihane away to Yeovil in the EFL Cup.
Liverpool played a "second XI" vs "expected to leave (either loan or sale)" training game yesterday, Corey Whelan and Conor Masterson were on the "expected to leave" side: https://www.football365.com/news/liv...to-klopp-plans
Quote:
Liverpool ‘home’ XI: Karius, Clyne, Phillips, Matip, Moreno, Fabinho, Henderson, Lallana, Shaqiri, Sturridge, Solanke
Liverpool ‘away’ XI: Mignolet, Whelan/Virtue, Masterson, Johnston, Lewis, Chirivella, Christie-Davis, Grujic, Markovic, Jones, Origi
Masterson is just back from injury. He is highly rated by klopp. The general feeling of Red's fans is that he is more highly rated than Philips, but by all accounts Philips had an excellent pre-season.
Three players scored their first goals for their respective clubs, two players made their debut for new clubs, Aaron Doran made his 200th appearance for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, and more in the midweek round up: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Blog...12251574323938

Daryl Murphy's first booking since 2015, James McCleans tenth goal in the Championship, Jimmy Dunne and Stephen Quinn debut for their respective clubs, and more in the weekend round up: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Blog...18970558818446
Yeah, especially competing for headers where elbows are flying, like Murphy would be.
I know, I had to double check it myself, he was booked against Wales in October, but this is club level only
Clark starts again for Newcastle in the League Cup v Notts Forest, Rob Elliot on the bench.
Sean Maguire limped out of the pre-season friendly with Oldham with a suspected recurrence of a hamstring problem . A subsequent scan revealed a more serious tendon problem. He has begun to run again but is not expected back on the pitch "until October time" (Lancashire Evening Post).
Daryl Murphy's 100th club goal, Matt Doherty's 250th career appearance, Shaun Williams's 200th apperarance for Millwall, and more in the midweek round up: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Blog...92278088748741
