Tough to watch.
He’s as courageous off the pitch as he was on it.

Absolutely, just watched it on the RTE Player. He’s really been through a lot, wish him and his family all the best. It’d be nice to see him in an Irish dressing room again in some capacity, i’d say he’d try to play for Ireland on one leg if they’d let him, actually if memory serves, he did try that at the Euros
What he did not mention was that, when his daughter was seriously ill, at 22 he tore up a his contract at Hull to relolate and that meant signing for Wrexham - for family support reasons.
Willing to sacrafice his career.
Great role model.
Just watched this now. I haven't been through one of the person tragedies he's been through. He's been through 3. Amazing to think that most people on the outside were wondering why he didn't just retire. And all he wanted to do was keep playing football for his family and for his country. Loved him before this, love him more after. Awesome man.
On an aside, Tubridy did his best to make it uncomfortable interjecting within a second of Walters pausing to hold back the emotion or attempt to vocalise the emotion.
I think Tubridy did ok, he was trying to give Walters a second or two to compose himself before continuing
Reading Keane’s comment on OTB about Walters crying on tv about his family.
Looks particularly harsh in print but I’ll wait to hear it to give my full judgement. Still, made me wince when I read it. Reads as quite a nasty comment.

When it was put to Keane that Walters had scored big goals during his Irish career, he replied: "How many years ago is that? How long is he going to live off that? A certain player scored against Holland and he still is," with a clear nod to his old foe Jason McAteer
He talks a good game," he said. "Imagine if he'd won a trophy. He goes on the TV about how he was harshly treated by me. He's crying on the TV about his family situation.
"Maybe he should lie low for a while. Have a look at his medals? That wouldn't take long."
"We got beaten by Wales. Jon played. Jon didn't have a good game. Wardy played, he didn't have a good game. They need to go back see how bad they were."
Etc.
He'd want to learn a new tune, for his own careers sake if nothing else.
He kind of half says it. Doesn't seem as bad as it did in print. Still, shouldn't even go there
Yes, more of a throwaway comment and was in poor form, he should not have brought family into it. Roy bitter about Jon milking it on circuit, probably feels Jon deliberately played things up on Late Late to boost his profile. Either way Roy shouldn’t have said it.
Putting things in perspective, I have heard far harrowing stories than Jon’s stories, but wouldn’t judge a person on how they react. Everyone is different emotionally and should be respected as such
Roy on the circuit complaining about others on the circuit !
Roy is like others that gets his a$$ kissed too much ! He disappears up his own !
Takes over as Interim Technical Director at Stoke City, following the sacking of Ricky Martin. Walters made 271 appearances for Stoke.
