Only 3 games in the Premier Division this weekend but all have a lot at stake.
Harps v Waterford is huge , big six pointer, If Waterford win the gap to Harps is 4 points , If Harps win it is 10.
Harps have been crippled with injuries and need a result badly or what looked like a season of carefree abandon is starting to look worrisome.
Pats have the chance to go top but an improving Derry could close to within shouting distance of a European spot with a win.
Longford v Drogheda is a big chance for Drogheda to pick up momentum after a poor run (cough) but a Longford side that manage to keep findiing a way to lose wont make it easy for Drogs.
The first division looks done and dusted with Shels 11 clear of Galway and Treaty but if Treaty could beat them on Friday it might keep it semi alive.
Can UCD beat an improving Wexford and try and put a few points between 6th and themselves
I'm pretty sure he is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder problem.
We simply cannot lose.
Squad numbers increasingly ropey at the moment. Lennon and McClelland at full back today and 7 on the bench made up of two keepers and mostly kids. The starting XI is strong in itself though so hopefully it's enough to get us through.
That's a brave call to make at this stage of the season
Pish, pish, pish.
Did I say pish.
good win for pats, although their discipline needs to be addressed it would seem.
We are f*cking dreadful.
Don't really know how we've managed to through that away tonight. Sickening.
Only caught the last 30 mins of Pats Derry, but, bar one or two scares, Pats held on pretty comfortably a man down but a goal up. Some very promising youngsters coming through by the sounds of the commentary team. Derry looked very toothless , only on judging that last 30. Nice to have the atmosphere of 500 in Richmond, and the addition of instant replays really makes the streaming service this year a much better product on LOITV.
Loved that tonight, felt special being there tonight in a backs to the wall scenario where we were screaming in celebration when winning goal kicks and throw ins. Didn't feel like it in the moment but can definitely agree that outside of set pieces we weren't troubled enormously. Thought Derry were a bit disappointing to be honest.
Our discipline needs sorting sharpish though. 3 games on the spin with red cards and that was yet another today that there was no complaining about either. Squad is tight enough as is without that.
PD results were good for the neutral. Pats making no mistake while the others are busy in Europe and Waterford now in a dogfight with Harps to avoid the playoff.
In the FD Galway finally made ground on Shels although the gap is surely too big already for it to be an issue. Athlone right back in the hunt for a playoff spot after their first win in ages.
Would in interested to see what the 90minute table would look like in the FD, seems like Cork and Wexford throw away points in injury time every second week.
Since the opening game we haven’t kept a clean sheet at home,we’ve scored more than 1 goal at home once all season, that adds up to very few points I’m afraid, can’t take advantage of any gifts presented and always give soft stupid goals, frustrating doesn’t even come close to watching us at the minute……
Shels were casual late on once or twice at the Markets to go 0 2 up and paid for it way into added on time. They will probably say two points dropped but thems the breaks etc, stayed in it and squeezed a draw.
Incredible strike by Armshaw.
Huge win for Waterford at Finn Park. Our first win there since 2013 and it gives us a good chance of catching Finn Harps and gives us a nice lead over Longford too. 3 players made their debut tonight and all seem to be good signings as 2 have huge experience from English league football. Eddie Nolan and Anthony Wordsworth have over a decade each in the EFL. Quitirna Junior was promising too and scored the penalty.
In 2011 with 12 games to go we were 10 points ahead of Cork and lost the FD title in the third minute of stoppage time
In 2021 with 12 games to go and 10 points ahead of Galway there is not one Shels fans who thinks we have it in the bag especially as we've only put in 3 decent performances in 15 matches and are somehow unbeaten
