It appears that Browne is having a sustained period at right fullback with Preston. The club is going through a rough spell though how much is attributable to his move to that position is unclear.
I think he’s generally quite good going forward from a fullback position with his crossing in particular quite strong.
He also appears to be becoming more disciplined defensively as he learns to stay in the position as opposed to drifting centrally as he did at first when asked to fill in.
Probably not great for us as we lack quality central midfielders and have two of the best right fullbacks in Europe already.

No one could accuse you of been a glass half empty man anyway !
Medial ligament damage in Good Friday's game; no surgery planned, but may not be available for any of Preston NE's remaining fixtures this season (LancsLive, 11 April).
Hmm. Full-back becoming an issue for June?
Browne doubtful, Doherty not getting his game, Stevens injured (and probably slipping down the pecking order anyway)
McClean maybe one last hurrah to get to 100 caps. O'Dowda, Coleman and Brady I guess also called up. But we need fresh blood here
Manning is the obvious solution, but Kenny really doesn't seem to like him
Brady is made of glass too, but if he has Coleman, Doherty, O'Dowda, and McClean, Kenny won't feel the need to experiment. We're definitely light if any of those gets an injury, but then that's true of most positions since we're a small country. The age profile is the bigger deal at wing back.
Browne won't be available for PNE's last two games. According to manager Ryan Lowe "he's finding it tough at the moment, the injury, it's not as straightforward as we thought it was. He's fine, he's doing gym stuff, but there's no way I was going to rush him unless it's a must. At the moment, with two games to go, definitely not. With four or five games to go, maybe so. At this moment in time he probably won't be back any time soon." (Lancashire Post, 28 April)
I thought Alan Browne has looked an improved player alright. He is maturing well, and who knows he might get to play in the premiership with Preston North End ~ Though there is a long way to go ! !
And he's out of contract next summer too.
Touch was filthier than a rats ballbag.
Fourth goal in ten games for Browne (and indeed fourth of the season)
Get the feeling he offers something decent to the squad if we stop playing him at wingback
I think he's the kind of player who, if we had a top level centre mid playing alongside him, could be very effective for us. Unfortunately we don't and he's not good enough to lead the midfield on his own, so he'll probably continue to be mediocre for us unfortunately. No end to our midfield woes in sight at present.
Could be so, yeah. Be interesting to see who starts in March with a new manager and Cullen/Molumby not getting their games at the moment. Similar issues at wingback too of course which may lead to him still being shoe-horned in there.
Surely any new manager is going to start playing two holding midfielders ( which a lot of teams are doing these days ) Is it, that there is too much to do in the modern game for 1 holding midfielder. Ideally of course if you were playing 2 holding midfielders they would be very good passers of the ball ( short and even better if very good long passers ) A lot of teams are playing 4-2-3-1 which of course can so easily be 4-5-1. Easy enough to play 1 inverted full-back ( very in vogue at the moment ) in that system as well if you have a players that can do that.
Serie A side Salernitana, who are bottom of Serie A, are showing interest in signing Browne it seems. Believe Browne is out of contract in the summer.
