Big difference was that last night it was in the box with no contact from the defender - free out & yellow cards.
Against Bohs there was a truck load of contact and it was at the box - Peno and high fives all round

Maybe my words were wrong, can never say never, but will agree the odds are stacked against us getting past Qarabag. For Riga it was prob 60/40 in our favour (made too hard work of it to be honest), for Qarabag it will prob be 70/30 in their favour, maybe less.
A good result next Tuesday in Oriel Park and that could change things. Its a big ask, I still think will be very unlikely, but you never know.
Dundalk deserved their win last night although they really should have finished off a poor Riga side in normal time.
I noticed that Dundalk picked the end that most looked like Oriel Park for the penalty shoot out :)
Good thinking there.
Rovers probably have the best chance of getting through from the teams left.
Pats will struggle to get anything in Sweden & City wouldn't score in the proverbial because we lack anything even remotely related to a striker
The odds are irrelevant. Belief is the key. Anything is possible
The first leg is on Wednesday

NEXT UP | Our #UCL QR2 tie with Qarabag will take place on:
Wed 24 July - Oriel Park 7.45pm
Wed 31 July - Baku 9pm local (6pm 🇮🇪)
The club is working very hard to sort arrangements for both legs. Full details will be announced via the usual channels asap.
The full list of potentials for EL3 is the winners of the below ties:
Second qualifying round champions path
SP Tre Penne (SMR)* v Sūduva (LTU)
Piast Gliwice (POL) v Riga FC (LVA)
Partizani (ALB) v Sheriff Tiraspol (MDA)
Ararat Armenia(ARM) v Lincoln Red Imps (GIB)*
Valur Reykjavík (ISL) v Ludogorets (BUL)
Slovan Bratislava (SVK) v Feronikeli (KOS)
Santa Coloma (AND)** v Astana (KAZ)
HB Tórshavn (FRO) v Linfield (NIR)
Shkëndija (MKD) v F91 Dudelange (LUX)
Anyone know if we could actually draw Riga again if they won or is that option blocked?
Youd fancy Dundalk against most of them,Piast,Slovan Bratislava and Astana the ones to avoid id say....
Thanks HS, so is this the full list of potentials for DFC should we lose to Qarabag ? I was hoping for Malta, but they got through CL r1 on away goals, so does this mean we cannot draw them, and def only from the above list ?
Not sure about drawing same side again, has that happened previously ?
Winners of the game in bold is def the easiest, but how did these two draw each other, Faroes v NI ?

There's going to be underdogs no matter what, but Dinamo look the better draw to me. There's much of a muchness between themselves and BATE, but Dundalk would get their seeding in the final round, if they managed to beat them.
It was outside the box, and a blatant dive, similar to Duffy's in Dalymount. Watching the game last night, I was struck by the fact Dundalk's cynicism was getting them nowhere with the referee, and it was a welcome change to how they're reffed in Ireland.
Interesting, as most I spoke to last night seemed to think Dundalk have little chance v Qarabag, I had a look at them this am, and they are no world beaters, much stronger than us still, but maybe there is a chance.
The trek out will be long, but at least Dlk will fly their own charter, so it will be direct.
It's funny how even a Champions League match in far away Riga can trigger the vulnerabilities of the more sensitive Bohs fans
Any cynicism emanated from Riga, aside from Daniel Kelly's histrionics. The card count over both legs tells its own story
I thought that the refereeing overall was excellent, even if some cynical late challenges by Debelko went unpunished in the first leg.
Hi oriel, so yes it is only the list above. Seeding in the EL (champions path) is based on the round you exit the CL from rather than club coefficient. So if both ourselves and Valetta went out of CL2 into EL3 then we would both be seeded with the clubs who exited from CL1 being unseeded.
In EL2 (champions path) only the 3 clubs exiting in the preliminary round were unseeded and once matched up with 3 teams from CL1, it was an open draw between the remaining teams as the number of seeded and unseeded teams was unequal.
For EL3 this wouldn't be the case as there is the same number of seeded and unseeded.
However for EL4, there would only be 6 seeded clubs (those who exit from CL3) and 10 unseeded. So as an unseeded team (assuming we got through EL3), 4 of these will be lucky enough to draw another unseeded team (i.e. another club that exited CL2 or indeed CL1 if they advanced from EL3).
So in the most favourable draws, you could be looking at the likes of Linfield or Dudelange in EL3 and then the likes of TNS or Valletta in EL4 in order to get into the EL group stages. The chances are very unlikely of course, but it is possible.
Below is the page on Bert's site that deals with it.

Cynicism on both sides, Kelly's dive last night wasn't Dundalk's first attempt at conning the ref. They went down plenty of times looking for fouls which weren't given, with refereeing you could only hope for in the LOI. Qarabag will be an interesting one, as you couldn't imagine them being strangers to the 'dark arts'.
Early goal for Cork. Game on?
Cork are all over them, don't know how they lost 2 nil to them!
