He's a 61-year-old presumably multimillionaire (unless he's been a very naughty boy). Exotic beaches are to be expected.

That's not anything.
Perhaps you're handicapped by an UCD education
The irony is in the unexpected, the bit where Mick actually did get a job near a sunny beach in a holiday location, where that unexpected outcome in Mick's life imitated a recent satire.
It's like 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife. (especially cos you're in a knife factory)
Except what I wrote about was an actual irony.
Is it ironic or just very sad that the people who claim that my example about Mick was not irony, do not actually know what irony is about?
One may take this as a rebuke to someone else who pretends to own a superior knowledge and condescends to perceived inferiors.
Anyway good luck to Mick. The last Irishman to manage a football team in those waters was pioneer Ronnie Whelan in Malta, I just remember his comments about his failure to come to terms with the incessant diving.
But it wasn't irony. It was coincidence.
Irony is when you chastise somebody for pretending to have a superior knowledge while being factually wrong yourself.
Ronnie managed in Greece and Cyprus. Never Malta.
Oh, the irony.
Sacked after nine games: https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2021...of-jack-byrne/
They sacked TC as well!
Hopefully he lands on his feet.

Interestingly BBC's slant is that McCarthy has "left" the club as opposed to being sacked.
taking over at cardiff apparently.
could be good news for young aaron bolger. in retrospect, would it have been better for Jack Byrne to have signed for Cardiff?
Big club for Mick to land, a slight surprise. I'm sure if it doesn't work out in Cyrpus and Mick still fancies him a loan for Byrne could be arranged.
Greg Cunningham is at cardiff also. Their squad doesn't look great in general. His first game looks like being away to Barnsley, familiar territory...
Mick was be very highly thought of, he is never without work
Mick just can’t get off the Manager Merry Go Round. Most People can’t ever get on it ! !
I hope TC likes Cardiff
Ask Ipswich fans if they're happier now without him.
I have a feeling he might bring James Collins, Duffy, Maguire, Judge etc
