Chances very much at a premium in a damp Ferrycarrig tonight so a point apiece was probably fair enough. Wexford started with Corey, Conor, Darragh, Lee, Paddy, John Peare, Crokey, Hopper, Emmet and with Danny and Jack up front. There was hardly an effort on goal in the first half hour as both sides cancelled each other out. On 31 minutes, Thomas Croke of Wexford picked up a yellow for a tackle. On 36 minutes, Limerick had an effort on Corey Chambers’ goal which went two yards wide and then Jack Doherty showed nice technique to get a volley on target but it was straight at Kelly in the Limerick goal. 0-0 at half-time.

Second half was marginally better, but again chances were scarce. A Limerick effort on goal was saved well low down by Corey Chambers at the expense of a corner and, with ten minutes gone, Wexford created their best chance when good work by Jack Doherty down the right wing saw his cross find Emmet Nugent free in the Limerick area, but his first-time effort came off the Limerick post. Limerick then followed this up with three free-kicks close to the Wexford area, but the first, following a deflection, was touched round the post by Corey Chambers for a corner; the second hit the Wexford wall; and the third went a couple of feet over the Wexford cross-bar. Subs for Wexford at this point were Nika Arevadze and Danny Doyle. With five minutes to go, Wexford again put together a good move, but Jack Doherty’s shot from the left was straight at Kelly in the Limerick goal. A header into the ground by Williams of Limerick was then pushed away by Chambers and last chance fell to Hopper Kenny of Wexford whose shot from outside the box again enabled Kelly to save without having to dive. So, 0-0 at full time. Attendance was reported to be 188.
