I see Greenmout Rangers have withdrawn sad to see a club go mid season.
City clubs just don’t have the same heart that the country clubs have, a few bad results at the start of the season and Greenmount pretty much gave up and now are gone altogether. Clubs like them think they have a divine right to be up near the top of the table every season and have absolutely no interest when they’re not. Country clubs like Banteer, Donoughmore, Rylane, Los Zarcos and Bweeng have all been through the **** but you never ever see them so much as concede a game.
In fairness to Watergrasshill they have turned things around big time they are having some season one of the best in all the AUL
We have been very quick to blame the Aul for the demise of the league, but there are times when we have knowone to blame but ourselves.
Temple 1st team folds in a season where they can't be relegated and their 2nd team in a season where they have a chance in the 3rd division now suddenly become a Premier team an loose the chance to win a 3rd division . Greenmount , ex MJR champs, Prem champs,Aoh and Mossie champs gone as well. I know some of the lads who played with both and it must be heartbreaking to see happen in front of you.
Can't blame the Aul.
To all those who put in the hard yards to keep things going I salute you .
Temples situation is a strange one there A team were in trouble last year.
And then for them to fold now isn’t overly surprising but surely some of the B team should have been brought up to add to the quality and numbers in pre season seems like bad management within the club.
I’m also lead to believe that their B team were asked to go to the 2nd division as they had finished 3rd in the 3rd division and refused.
Greenmout another strange one very good second division team last season.
Yes a poor start but not a bad side still had the Saxone & City Cup to play for hard to figure.
AUL have their work cut out for them it’s the City clubs that are letting them down in the main as the lack of loyalty by players causes clubs numbers to fluctuate too much.
The county clubs biggest issue is the GAA but they do a much better job of holding things together.
Things could be about to get a whole lot worse............
Please elaborate..
Word on the street is Temple are keeping both teams in the league. Surely this is a huge boost for the second team with then still in the AOH there own league cup and also undefeated in the league. This should be interesting with Gratten also breathing down their backs in the title race. Game On!!
Whoops , I did say It would get worse,,,,,Aul is a bit of a embarrassment now.
Grattan(with an A) an Boher are 1st and 2nd , ,,,,,,,so its more of the chasing pack on their tails than breathing down anyone's neck. Watergrasshill will have a say in this too and possibly Rathcormac .
How are they keeping both teams have the rules not been broken?
Games called off as a result?
The rule book is freely available, rule 24 , parts A,B & C .
The current carryone is a farce .
I say again , it could get worse.
League is a joke, rules mean nothing it seems
There are a few old souls in the crows nest of the HMS AUL
The ice berg is far away but getting closer , but sur its miles away they say, we are the HMS AUL , nothing to worry about.
In a blink the ship is past savin an all we have then is memories of a once glorious thing. The HMS AUL.
Yes , it seems to be inevitable .
The AUL is a bit like this forum , dying a slow and painful death. Couldnt tell you the last time i went to a match , must be the start of the season I'd say . Just think the standard is awful and not worth my time anymore
While standards have dropped over the years due to numbers dropping, commitments, etc., there are still some good teams who want to be competitive and put in the work.
Cocahford, Springfield, Corkbeg, Grattan, City Wanderers.
UCC, Killumney, Grangevale.
Cathedral
Blackstone, Shandon, Los Zarcos.
Temple B, Watergrasshill, Grattan B.
You've other clubs then trying their best.
Then you've other clubs who's interests aren't great and call off games willy nilly. Thankfully that should be happening less now.
Looking forward to the Cup Finals and business end to leagues.
Grangevale reinstated in the AOH after Temple deemed to have played an illegal player.
The Temple Secretary must be fairly busy!!!
I'm embarrassed , actually embarrassed to be reading that last post.
