And it finishes 13-0 to Ireland, with nine goals in the second half. Pretty sure that's a record at any level for the men's team.
Wright with four, Bowden and McGuinness (who came on half time) with two each, Richards, Omobamidele, Gilbert, Cannon and Cassidy with the others.
Austria 2-1 Switzerland.
As it stands we have to beat Austria either
A) By one goal and hope the Swiss beat Gibraltar by 13 or less
B) Beat Austria by 2 goals

the playing surface is absolute muck, literally
1-0 down at half time, and a player down after Coffey was shown a straight red
Austria should have had a player sent off right after but he pretended to be injured and the ref only gave a yellow.
Lost two-nil, and had a second player sent off. Austria also had a player sent off late on for a second yellow.
Switzerland won 16-1 against Gibraltar in the other group game, with one player scoring seven goals
First time I'd say for a long time we have not got out of the first qualifying group. Pity looks like alot of talented players who maybe haven't played alot together.
That was as bad a performance as I've seen from an Ireland underage team in some time. Some come down from reaching the semi finals last year, I actually thought that team might qualify us again and go on a run to the Under 20 World Cup, but they were really poor today.
There are some very highly rated players in that squad but they have a lot of developing to do if they're going to match the lads in the age group just above them. Hopefully the early exit doesn't result in any players defecting to other countries. As they've played competitively for us they'll be gone for good if they go.
Any implications for Tom Mohan’s future? Is he still the top dog for the under 21 job next summer? I would think Robbie Keane is also in the running giving the awkward overlapping of contracts, and Keith Andrews may fancy it too. I’ve heard Jim Crawford is a class apart from a coaching standpoint, so Kenny may be anxious to bring him into senior set up
