That is a bizarre decision, clearly in the box, cast iron penalty, but the ref should have played on, and let the goal stand anyway.

Good god I didn't realise it was that clear cut. Even the Waterford players couldn't believe it. He and his linesman should never officiate again, absolutely disgraceful!

It wasn't even a foul, but given that he had given it as one, the worst thing about it was that Kelly brought it back to outside the box WHILE Luke Fitz was still sitting on the ground in the box where he'd made the challenge. I mean the spot was pretty well marked.

Agreed. It's not uncommon at all for an attacking player to get clattered after he gets his shot away, and it is never given as a foul. But as you say, the defender is just sitting there, where he made the tackle, well inside the area. Poor form to make that decision and not know where it had taken place.Quote:
