Madness, Reid's link play with Keane was something I was looking for tonight. Miller and Whealan better than Carsley and Andy Reid. Don't make me laugh.
im a little worried than our last game before the qualifiers and trap leaves him out. hes our only playmaker in the middle so i just cant understand this decision.
The worst part is that from Trap's comments he seems to think Miller is some sort of midfield destroyer. Brutal.
Bring Back Staunton!!
He's our most creative player since Brady - maybe Trapattoni is just trying out another option other than the best available - I know Liam Brady himself is always praising Andy Reid so lets hope it's just to try out something different for a friendly. Better be that anyways!
Strange one alright, not just to leave him out but then to have millar on stand-by
I read an article in the paper at the weekend where the Trap was saying what an important role Andy had to play. strange to leave him out after that
Ther must be method in the madness - andy reid's our most creative player since liam brady.
Terrible decision IMO, Andy Reid is ten times more talented than Miller and Whelan. Really expected Trap to play Andy in the centre, if I was Andy I'd be gutted.
Ive watched both of Keane's 2 competitive matches this season against lige and Sunderland. He was absolutely terrible in both hence he was subsituted in both.
Last season Ramos dropped him. The stats show that when Keane plays for Spurs their average performance/points return dropped. When was the last time he had a good game?
Murphy is no goal hanger but hes excellent in the air and can shoot from long range. he is excellent at keeping possession of the ball something Keane cannot do.
Unfortunately Murphy's job is to score goals. Think he scored 3 or 4 last season, where as Keane scored 23. Slight difference.
If you think Murphy is a better player than Robbie Keane, you need a brain transplant.
Bashing Robbie Keane is the most redundant thing to be posted on this forum and how it still rears its head the odd time is beyond me.
Murphy however did have a decent season last year for Sunderland and deserves a place in the squad but still has much to do to dislodge Keane/Doyle but would be a genuine option on the left in the absence of duff and hunt
Keanes record speaks for itself, I will always stand up for the guy in an Irish shirt. No doubt he is our best striker.
Strange decision on reid but before making judgement lets see how things go tonight, whos to say Trap is not just trying out something different, the right game to try it in. I think Reid looked alot similar in the game last sat than he has for a long time.
I laughed at the whole post but this bit in particular got me. Ah sure we might as well play him and lump it forward all night because he's good in the air :D
Lond balls like that would be bread and butter to any decent International centre half worth their salt
And every player can shoot from long range. Murphy got a couple of rakers last season and you obviously thought he was Roy of the Rovers after it. Keane has his faults but is twice the player Murphy is (albeit completely different players) but you are the one suggesting a like for like change. :D
The even funnier thing is that I wouldn't mind seeing how a Murphy and Keane partnership would look.
Reid looks like Michelin man & will need a couple of months to work off the close season excesses. I predict he will be larger than the old Pat Dolan when he retires. Disgrace for a professional footballer.
Does it really matter what he looks like when he puts in the performances? He could be rick wallers body double for all I care if it doesnt effect his play.
Is anyone else totally sick of statements like this? Think about it for one second. Andy Reid played the full ninety minutes against Liverpool. To suggest that someone who is fat or unfit could do this is retarded. Thats 90 minutes of professional football; I saw the game and Reid was well able to hack the pace for the duration of the game.Quote:

Also people calling for Robbie to be dropped are player haters and nothing else. No football argument can be made for him to be excluded from our starting eleven. I would love to see Keane and Murphy play up front together, mostly because I think Keane does his best work while playing with someone who has a good few inches on him.
The midfield question is complicated. I would say that A. Reid and Steven Ireland(should he ever return) are our most talented midfielders. Unfortunately it would appear that playing the two of them in a starting eleven would be suicide.
I'm not pushed on Miller, would like to see more of Whelan, holding out hope that S. Reid realizes some of his potential, have pretty much given up on Ireland, but really I am just waiting for James McCarthy to come along and sort out this nonsense. Heres hoping...
maybe he was talking about this Andy Reid

I have seen him play for Ireland live many times & never seen him perform for more than 60 minutes (always great in the first half). When I saw him on TV last night thought he had a few players of tracksuits. He looks like the sort of player who puts on a lot of weigh when not playing which is what I suggested will happen when he retires.
Anyway I won't drag this on as an old debate...
Lad's don't be letting finnpark drag a thread of topic.
testujin replied to all these points you made only a week ago and you didn't bother your arse to continue the debate.

Don't be starting it again.
This topic's about Andy Reid exclusion from the team tonight. Let's keep it on topic.
He was absolutely class for 90 minutes against Germany. I had all his best clips of that game on youtube (before my account was closed for some unknown reason) and there was plenty of clips from past the hour mark. Martin Jol answered the question.
Martin Jol:
"We did tests with Andy last week and it showed that he is one of the fittest players at the club.
Andy knows his fitness. He is a small guy so maybe he looks a little out of shape but I tell you he isn't.
It is not an issue. His heart rate was excellent. His recovery was terrific and I have no complaints.
"We conducted some body fat tests on him and the results were good."
Les Reid:
"He is fit. You have only got to look at the amount of running he was doing and how he was still going at the end to see that
He’s never talked about his weight to me. Maybe it gets to him but it certainly doesn’t bother him and it won’t stop him playing. He’s always going to be stocky. Ferenc Puskas died recently, but he might have been the original Andy Reid!"
That doesn't mean there's no discussion to be had.
I couldn't believe that he wasn't given at least 20 minutes, I'd say he is very much pee'd off after travelling all that way to just to get soaked on the touchline. I don't see why Trap couldn't tell him to sit back a bit,if that's what he wants. He can still spray balls left, right and centre, and I think he is good defensively.
I didn't see what Whelan did tonight that Andy wouldn't do a whole lot better. Whelan can't impose himself on a game, and is not very physical, which is an attribute that is believed Trap is looking for in the centre.
A baffling decision. I just hope he was being rested:p
Liam Miller staying on the bench has to be a massive positive though!
N.B. I know that you can't judge Whelan on tonight's match alone but I've seen Whelan numerous other times and Reid is a much better player all-round.
Trap understands football ten times more dan ny1 on this forum so for once im willing 2put my faith in our manager on what his team selection is
Problem is most of our best players are left wingers.
We have more left-wingers than the New Labour - well about the same number anyway.
