2) Pick one bookies odds only. Having multiple odds etc leads to too much confusion. Its mostly for fun so getting 6/5 on boyles rather than the 11/10 the Paddy Power odds give your for the game won't really matter. Betfair should be absolutely banned (giving the fluctuations)
3) Have an entry list. People put forward their name on a thread and then the organisor works from that
4) Set a maximum amount of bets per week per poster. 5 is enough.
5) If someone doesn't make a bet that week they lose 5 points
6) None of this editing your own post ****e, get someone in charge and they monitor each bet and check the result of it. They should also check the price of each bet (which is why picking one bookies site helps)
7) Have one thread per week, and absolutely no discussion in it. Just bets and the results.
8) Whoever's in charge should do weekly roundups. Have the betting week start on Monday @ 7am (which allows people bet on NFL, baseball and basketball on late US sunday nights).
9) To help casual punters, make the betting fund €100 instead of 20 units. Its handier too for working out winnings
The important thing is to get an organiser who's committed to doing it and has the time. If its a free for all it becomes a joke.
