Left it behind us

I am disgusted after tonight, we really left it behind us there. Pats park the bus, we really need to score and they would have had to come out and play, if that had happened we would have torn them apart.

Why didn't Matthews make a change with 20 mins to go, just something different. Darragh Ryan for Darren Murphy or something, anything just to mix it up a bit and open them up. Was Matthews playing it safe or what?

Pats top of the league, with performances like that, it doesn't say much for the league if the table toppers are playing like that. Donkey Harris and Fitzpatrick up front, jebus wept :eek::rolleyes:

Cork were the better team, were more useful on the ball but were quite disappointing when trying to do that final ball or through pass.

I dunno, i dont think we needed to bring on a 'match winner' player because, no disrespect to Pats but they were very 2-dimensional, they had little to offer and i reckon just changing things around would have left them at sea.

We squandered that game. I hate the fact that we gave them the point, i'd prefer if they played us off the park and stole the three points. We gifted them a reward they didn't deserve.

Get a grip will you? A seriously depleted squad put up a decent performance away from home and had as many chances as Cork earning a fully deserved point.

According to your post you were toally on top and yet couldn't break us down, and you think we were two dimensional?!

I remember Devine plucking a few balls from the air and having to deal with one or two shots from distance, but not much more?

Hands down, no debate, no need .... City had at least double that chances Pats had, and those chances definitely had a higher probability than anything Pats offered up.

Sorry Dodge, we should have left it at three nil to be honest but some simply aren't doing what they are asked. That was not the game for shoddy performances and some players were shown up. Other than that, City should have walked it.

Mooney dived. I had a perfect view of this. Pretty disgusting the amount of times he dived actually. Never a penalty in a million years.

Paisley shuld've scored witha header. Gavin had a similar looping header. Fahey was inches wide in the last minute. Ryan Guy had at least 2 chances.

No doubt you had the best chance with the scramble in the last minute but if you honestly belive you should've been 3-0 up there's no hope for a face. Defending and goalkeeping are all part of the game

I was ten yards from it, Ryan got the ball but got the player too. This was mid way through the second half, down by the shed.

Where were you sitting? He didn't dive, his legs were taken out from under neath him and gravity did the rest, penalty but you got out of jail.

Without doubt, that what i'm saying .... we left that game behind us, we gave you a point and did away with two we should have had. I agree, defending and keeping was all ye were doing. If we scored one and made you come out and play it would have been at least 3.

Las, it was a definite dive. It was at the shed, and there was no-one between Mooney and me. He dived 3/4 times last night. No way in hell was it a penalty, and I was disgusted he wasn't booked. And even by your logic Ryan got the ball, If Mooney runs into him after he saves it, how is that a penalty?

As opposed to one scramble? Fahey's shot hit the post having beaten the keeper. As I said you ahd the best chance, and it was blocked.

Seriously, do you believe you deserved anything but a draw from that game? Forcing one or two saves from our keeper in a home game, and completely dying in the last 20 minutes?

Little bit harsh IMO...

Cork just about shaded it overall i think in a poor game. Pats were missing there 2 top strikers as well as Kirby so i think they did well considering. All cork in the 1st half but were shocking in the final 3rd, Pats played much better in the 2nd half and matched Cork. If anythig i thought Pats were probably the better side in the 2nd half.

Overall it was a poor enough game and by saying Cork's best chance came with a minute to go probably sums up the game. Draw was a fair result. Good result for Pat as going to the X is never easy.

Mooney was lucky not to get booked for diving a few times and i thought Kearney's tackle on Fahey was terrible, the intent was clear to see... Also i think it was one of the Murphy's who clattered Byrne after the whistle had went, lucky not to be booked but Byrne's retilation was lucky not to see him go in the book.

I think we were well on top in the first half as pats had to resort to long balls for counter attack. We faded badly in the second half at around the same time Pats made substitutions. Playing basically the same team week in week out with rest for suspended players is going to lead to more 0-0 games. We still should have won 1-0 based on chances. Ryan Guy was the only threat from Pats.

Darren Murphy is not fit enough to play 90 minutes especially with so many games. Unforgivable to omit Billy Woods from the bench. Lordan should have come on for last 15 minutes as he is as good as tired Darren Murphy.

A couple of feeble free kicks were the sum total of their efforts and the won their first corner of the game with 12 minutes left.

As I said earlier, goalkeeping is part of the game. Even if cork had 30 shots on target to our none, and it finished 0-0, a draw would be deserved.

The only way you get more or less than deserved is by referee mistakes. Everything else is part of the game, and controlled by both teams.

First time I'd seen Cork this season. Pleasently surprised by the passing football. Kearney looked back to where he was pre-Shels (but again, he tired badly)

Good game that could and should have been converted to 3 points.

Mooneys legs were taken from him.
It was pretty obvious that whenever Mooney was going to fail to score, nobody else would step up to the plate.

As for that article, the author would want to realise that it's been over ten years since an opposing player got that particular MOTM award.

Gamble got the Setanta honour although I thought Healy was immense. Darren Murphy pretty much nullified Fahey, won lots of headers in the middle of the field but contributed little else.

Ryan Guy was class altogether imo and the game could have been a lot different if McDonnell used him as an orthodox second striker.

Barry Ryan was my MOTM though in that he definitely saved the game for Pats in that last 15 minutes. Not enough up front at all even with JOF. It's frightening to think what we'd be like if Moons got hacked out of it for a few weeks (which is very likely in this league.)

Bohs for the league I'd say.

I knew it, i was being a bit reserved until i had seen it again just in case but its clear as day he was taken down. There is absolutely no argument with that.
