Unfortunately its probably down to the tsunami. rubber shoes are pretty durable and the rest of the body will have disintegrated, leaving the shoes, and the feet they protect, floating free.

All well and good, but - and this is speculation - I would be willing to be it would not be because of mid-sized fish. Mid-sized fish live almost exclusively in coastal regions. The tsunami would've pretty much cleared all the small or mid-sized fish. They'd have been swept away or would've gotten as far away from the doom as possible. Post-tsunami, the coastal waters would've been muddied, and majorly lacking in oxygen. Fishies no like. Now, for a body to get across the pacific ocean, I'd imagine it would have to escape tidal currents pretty quickly; most like as an after effect of the eddies caused by the tsunami. The dead body bloats because of internal bacteria, but is dragged quickly out to the open sea where nothing but lost sharks and migrating sea turtles are. Untouched by fish, the body mass starts to be devoured by the ocean-going algae and plankton, with most of the stuff exposed biodegradable. The bit unexposed now floats into another coastal region, but the mid-sized fish are now paying it no heed as it looks like a bit of plastic.Quote:

You're assuming it is a tsunami victim. While that was my first thought too, it could quite easily be something like a plane crash or a boat sinking or a series of murders. Though don't know how likely it is you'd get six feet from a plane crash.
