League Cup

i think they announced at the pats linfield game last nite that the league cup game ucd v pats is on next monday in the bowl

anyone know for definite ?

Are you coming out M50? If so take take the exit off the M50 for Rathfarnham, Ballinteer and Dundrum (No. 13, second after the NBA Arena). Go straight at the roundabout, going on the road parallell to the M50. Turn left at the next roundabout. Keep going, you'll pass the Goat pub (junction with Mount Anville Road). After about a mile there will be an AIB on your right. Turn right here (Wynnsward Drive) and you are now going in the Clonskeagh entrance of UCD. Turn left just before the sports centre, follow the road and you will be at the Bowl. Turn right when you get there and you will come to a car park, which is a 2 min walk max from the ground.

Seriously, would have thought you'd have known better than to come out to a UCD-Pat's League Cup tie!

Bus from town is the best if you really want to come - 46A, 84, 63, 145, 10, 11, 11A (there's an 11 something which ends in UCD very near the ground).

Either of the 11s would be the bus to get. 11B goes through the campus, but is less frequent.

46A to RTE, 11/A to the Clonskeagh entrance to UCD (at the AIB) or 11B to its terminus in UCD. The map on stigonline.com/league/directions.htm shows it if you zoom in.

2 great goals particularly the second one from Reilly. Not a game full of quality. Should have been 2 goals in the first half, on for forsyth and another from there striker! Not much in the second half in the way of chances until the goals

good win over pats again in the cup!

A strange one. Pat's should have played far better for the quality they had out, it was very much a UCD reserve side. We played some neat stuff at times and the second goal was well worked. A decent crowd for that early in the League Cup, 380. Another quarter final for Pete Mahon.:D

UCD 2-0 St Patrick's Athletic

Impressive College advance to Quarter-Finals

UCD advanced to the quarter-finals of the eircom League Cup with a comprehensive victory against St Patrick's Athletic tonight. Even though Pats' starting lineup was much stronger on paper, UCD's inexperienced team outplayed the visitors and were worth the two goal win.

UCD: Brennan; Harding, Shortall (c), McMillan, Gallagher; Reilly, Bolger, O'Sullivan (A Doyle '7), O'Callaghan; Forsyth (Fitzgerald '75), Purcell (Mullins '90).
Subs not used: Finn, Gregg.

I thought O'Sullivan and Doyle had good games. Less impressed with the right back, who looked very green. Nice to get the win. Here's hoping the watching senior players will have picked up enough tips to see off Cobh! ;)

O'Sullivan played 7 minutes??

Thought Harding played quite well myself, and would see him as Mahons replacement in time! Did make one mistake which led to there great chance in the first half, allowed Kirby to knick insde him and put the ball on a plate for there young striker who missed!

Thought UCD looked very solid last night, apart from one sitter Pat's didn't really have any chances, both goals taken well.

Slightly OT, but someone needs to get that poor announcer fella a wireless mic, he has to sprint up to that garden shed every time there's a substitution, can't be good for the ticker...

He looked very uncomfortable on the ball and gave the ball away badly a number of times. I'd be worried if he was to appear on a teamsheet for a league game in the near future. I really don't see whatever you saw.

If they'd a decent striker playing, they'd have been very dangerous. They didn't.

I thought he was decent enough, always seemed eager to run at the full back, which is encouraging seeing as only one winger who will do that at the moment. Only bad side is his crossing, which is poor enough.

Well said, McGlinchey. Alan and his younger brother were at the game last night and they've been known to look at this forum from time to time. My condolences go to them both and their family.
