It's because it's a cup competition. The gate is always split as it would be unfair not to give the away team any of the gate receipts as it was just luck of draw that they were away. It's the clubs' fault for allowing season tickets to be used for cup games.Quote:

The A League is outside the traditional two division league. While many of the players will be at their respective clubs for a while, every team in the new A League will be a new team. There is no guarantee that the new clubs will be of First Division standard, no-one promised anything different.
The A League doesn't start for a good few months anyway. I doubt those clubs would have a team together in time for the league cup.
