i heard we might be umbro next year alright, but theres no crest on that page?
its gone!
it was there 10 mins ago,
theirs a post in the 'club kits next season' thread on the eircom league section of this forum that says it too.
drogs were there aswell they have been removed....strange!
the 2 jako teams! maybe its because they're still jako, and just in talks to be with umbro or something, they cant very well be up on the umbro site if there still technically with jako.
i did hear there was a row/something of that sort with jako
that only leaves harps,if they change their kit something has happened...
maybe jako want out of the eircom league?
i think harps were a different company last season...?
i thought nike were buying umbro?!
my mistake!
im sure the 2 rte fellas said their kits were supplied by jako juring the harps - athlone game..then again thats rte!
I was told tere is a new rule coming in were all FAI teams juinor intermediate and senior,s will have to were Umbro kits in the next 2 years.plus use umbro footballs. Its to do with the sponsorship deal that they have with the Fai!
class....if they're paying for it all
At the moment this only concerns teams in the Connaught Cup, including underage, which is now sponsored by Umbro. Teams must play with Umbro footballs and failure to do so incurs a €100 fine. The fine will be used to purchase footballs for the offending club. Didnt hear anything about the kit rule though
And the juinor cup ask any local ref they were told a few weeks ago at tere weekly meeting thats the road the FAI are going to take!
I seriously doubt we're moving to an Umbro kit unless the league has done a huge deal for Umbro to do all the kits - similar deals exist in MLS and Austrailia. I personally think one manufacturer paying a huge sum that get's divided out to clubs, plus a % of sales per club would be a good thing for rovers. Rovers make diddly squat with their current set-up and considering the amount of rovers jerseys around it should be a key money maker for the club. but it isnt.
i think we get more if people buy the shirt in the shop in the showgrounds, and not in a different shop....still doubt we make much on shirt sales
just to mention something, barton smiths sell finn harps jerseys, not a rovers one in sight
Hope its something the new CPO looks at. The way the club shop is run is very poor, tried to buy a scarf there last season only to be told that they didnt have any.
Also think where the shop is situated in the showgrounds need to be looked at. The majority of home fans dont pass by it,if you want to sell something it needs to get maximum exposure. Also see alot of clubs, Galway Utd included, have the capacity to sell products online. This would be of great benefit to people who only go to Sligo for matches and not to shop!
Maybe there is not enough profit for the club to invest in the promotion of club merchandise.
In fairness it wouldn't be the responsibility of CPO to organise the merchandising side of things, that's where a commercial manager is needed. Unfortunately the club merchandising is sown up by the kit supplier whom the club in it's present format is heavily dependant. The 'shop' in the grounds is basically a display cabinate for the 'mothership' on Markievicz Road.
Personally I think a move to Umbro or any other supplier would be a huge step in the right direction for Rovers. Unfortunately while 'certain people' are involved this will not be allowed to happen.
well then go post it in a junior forum:rolleyes: Everyone buying jerseys from rovers shop wont make much difference. Rovers should be in control of marketing and merchandising their own strip. there are serious margins to be made if they handled it themselves - if Rovers did it themselves (or maybe supporters groups) then your talking bout a serious revenue stream
The official website has had a "shop" link on it for over a year now and it still isn't working .As someone not living near Sligo it would be great to but merchandise on line .I eventually bought a '77 replica shirt on line that I'm sure the club didn't make a penny on.
