Am I right in thinking it is on tonight!
i'm presuming you mean the draw for it or have i missed the draw already??
Yea, draw for the semi-final of the FORD FAI Cup is on tonight. Going out live on 6.1 news.
I was very disappointed to hear lots of people in Belfield last Monday talking about this draw alleging some kind of conspiracy - most distressing.
To suggest that our premier cup competition might be tainted in such a way was quite disillusioning. The draw will fall the way it falls - the fact that UCD have been drawn away from home in 7 out of 8 cup games this year and 3 out of 4 last year is just unfortunate, and bad luck.
Seasoned observers tell me that the year we won the cup we were away from home every round. It happens - and any suggestion of high jinks is unfortunate, disappointing and is misplaced paranoia.
All this talk of 2 big clubs in the final and heated and cold balls - I for one do not accept that the FAI would in any way mess about with the integrity of our premier cup competition albeit with a misplaced well intention of a "big" final.
Rgds
ps Anybody know what time the last train is home from Cork ?
Bohemians Vs. Cork City
U.C.D. Vs. Longford Town
I predict Cork Vs. UCD in final:(.
bohs vs cork
ucd vs longford
Would have prefered a home tie. Will be very tricky. Is the Bohs/Cork game on the friday and UCD vs Longford on the sunday?
Great chance for either Longford or UCD to get to the final.
Worst possible draw for us.
For fu uck sake
Yes indeed, I can safely say we will see the winner in the final ;)
Cark longford final would be best final for a host of reasons.
KOH
We'll find it very tough to beat Boh's in Dalymount.
Fingers crossed though
Well, I hope if we do get knocked that Longford get to the final instead. Always liked them.
You're probably right that Cork- Longford would have the biggest crowd.
I'm not sure how many fans Longford could magic-up thoguh. They would doubtless get bandwagoners out, but there has been a clear downward trend in the level of interest in the club locally over the last few seasons.
I doubt Cork v Longford would be much of a spectacle - though the Town might lift their game for the occassion and prove me wrong. Am I the only one who would suspect UCD would be difficult to watch in a final ?
All the above didn't do much for Pats in last year's game.....
Cork had 13-15,000 at the 2005 final. Bohs definitely would not bring that many to any game. Dublin club's just don't have the local identity and goodwill to tap into for these big occassions. Cork has a whole city that can identify with them and that will turn out for the big events.
Pats had about 4,000 (at least) at last years. With all due respect to Pats, I'd imagine Bohs would get more fans than that.
That was also when Cork were the best team in the country and a lot of their fans believed their own hype. I honestly doubt they'd bring that much again. But hey if I'm wrong, I'm not bothered. It'd be a good turnout for a cup final.Quote:

Probably. It certainly couldn't be much worse than the drivel served up by Derry and (probably more so) Bohs on Tuesday.
Was talking to someone there at a stag during the week - never met him before, but as I was coming direct from a UCD match, the subject came up. He said he'd only watched one of the live eL games this season, which happened to by our win in Drogheda. He noted that he was actually very impressed with the way we played that night. Setanta have been waxing lyrical (almost to a patronising degree) about how well we've performed in our three live games to date - away to Rovers, Pat's and Drogs.
So I would imagine (certainly hope) that your fears are unfounded. Certainly appears to be no point singling us out over anyone else.
I know it's been said before but what's the capacity of the RDS?
18000
There are 2 small terraces under the main stand
