For some reason the rule is that the home team must change if the away team arrive with clashing colours but then the next question is why did Bray arrive with clashing colours...
Galway fined for their GK jersey too?
I agree with the rule of fining clubs to get them in line but fining City for wearing their home jersey in strangely their home ground is ridiculous. To make matters worse Bray don't get fined at all???
So if Shamrock Rovers arrive in Turners Cross only with their home hooped jersey City would be fined again if refused to change from our home jersey???
:confused::confused::confused:
If the away team always had to travel with two kits I am sure this would never happen again
FAI .........SORT IT OUT .
Surely if a team is playing away they should bring their away kit? If these clash the home team can change to their away kit without hassle. However this is all down to a matter of opinion for the ref. So opinions are going to differ how will there be consistency with the rule? Having said that a quick phone call prior to departure would sort out this problem. Unless of course as has happened the ref is unhappy with all four goalkeeper jerseys!!!
Ridden Rock Solid
How in the name of God can Cork be fined??
And, going by that fine to Galway, Dundalk can expect to be fined €100 as well even though they have four different coloured goalkeeper jerseys?
I give up.
in an attempt to sort this out fai have issued all clubs with a form they must submit 24 hrs before kickoff to ensure no clashes ...what happened to clubs ringing each other about kits before a match or are we just a bunch of w*&kers
You're right.
- Home teams wears their first choice kit.
- Away team wears their first choice kit if it doesn't clash with home team kit.
- Away team will change to their second choice kit if it clashes with home team kit.
However, there is a rule in the League rulebook which states that if the away team's two kits clash with a home team's first choice kit, then the home team must change to their second choice kit.
If Bray brought both their kits with them and the referee decided that they both clashed with Cork's, Cork should have changed their kit to their away kit. If Cork refused to do this, this is probably why they ended up with the fine.
It's actually a different rule for the FAI Cup believe it or not. The away team can wear their first choice kit and if it clashes, it is the home team which must change to their second choice kit.

now that makes sense
Makes sense. Case closed.Quote:

Its breathtaking really. The FAi are a shambles. and prove it on a weekly basis.
Still it'll buy a few coctails on their jolly up To South Africa
would explain Pats and Galway both wearing away kits on friday. suppose cork can't be as professional as Galway
So a team could have an away that's not too different to their home, thereby forcing the home team to change every time?
bray's away jersey clashes with corks home jersey, as does bray's home jersey. maybe they did bring the two of them and cork still refused, rightly so really, everyone should have 3 kits.
and bray, for havin a green and white home jersey and a white away jersey is just stupid. there not the only team that has a very similar away kit!
By the FAI's logic Shamrock can come down so to Cork tomorrow and insist on wearing their hoops or we'll get fined?
Its truely breathtaking. The FAI are nothing but a laughing stock
No, Rovers must bring their home and away kits. If both clash with your home kit then you wear your away kit.Quote:

Have the League not heard of third kits?
I've just spoken to someone on this and he reckons that the referee shouldn't have started the game if the clash of colours was so bad....Keely has a piece in The Sun today about the Dundalk goalkeeper last week. This league has gone mad altogether!
It's totally Bray's fault imo, they know that there are only two teams in the League who they clash with, both of whom have equal parts green and white in their kit, so their away should be a totally different colour.
I know that Bray are in the right under the rules, what I mean is they had a lack of foresight when deciding upon their away kit. If that's the case City could have a home kit of white and green stripes, white shorts and white socks, with the away green and white stripes, green shorts and green socks. These kits would always be deemed to clash with Rovers' and Bray's home kits so we'd never have to wear an away kit. The rules are stupid.
Just looked up pictures of Rovers at home to Bray in May and both sides wore their away kits that night
The system works :)
Sometimes anyway.
I could be wrong but i think our away gear is a few years old, going back to when we had all green home* ( horrible jersey) and all white away
*See Avatar above
That kit in your avatar is adidas, ye have umbro now, the adidas away was white with black shorts and socks so less of a clash
Now, that's just taking the **** - what you have said above is the same as saying that Shamrock Rovers have green and white hoops as their home kit and their away kit could be white and green hoops.
At the end of the day, Cork were probably been asked to wear their second choice strip - with their crest, their sponsors logos. If it turns out that Cork were given the fine because THEY REFUSED to wear their own second choice shirts at a home game, well then shame on them.
I know I used an extreme example, I was just pointing out that if Bray's away clashes with Bray's home then it's likely it will clash with City and Rovers, so should not be allowed to be white and green.
I agree that City should have worn their away that night for sponsorship reasons (Bray players interviewed after has the white shirts on for that very reason).
However I do not agree that City should be fined for what is essentially a lack of foresight on Bray's part.
What I want to know is were City informed beforehand that they would be fined if they wore the home kit. If they were then it is gross stupidity on their part. If not then it's a joke
It's in the rulebook that if the visiting club's two registered colours clash with the home side, then the home side must change. Doesn't mention a fine, but remember the Participation Agreement that every club signed prior to the start of the season states that rule breaks will be dealt with by way of fines, point deducations, etc.
So, basically, if Cork broke the rules they should have known a fine was on the way. If they didn't know this was the rule (re the clash of shirts), well that's something someone at the club will have to answer.
Is there a pdf of the rules anywhere?
What a joke of a decision. If any club was to be fined it should have been ourselves.
