What does everyone think of matt gordon. Personally i think he's a great player with brilliant class and determination. what do you think?
I think he needs more time.
looks a great prospect, very quick and seems to give a good final ball. a few more games in the first team and he should come along nicely
give him and meredith time
picked up a knock in longford and was injured for UCD! looked pretty good whenever ive seen him so far...very quick and good going forward. seen him twice for u21s and was good (cant really judge him at that level though) and was lively whenever he's got a run in the first team. he's the same kind of player as stephen hunt i think
Were both Meredith and Gordon injured for the UCD game?
gordon was definalty injured, seem him around town limping a few days before it. didnt see meredith at the game
yeah matt gordon was injured he's my cousin and his mum told me. thats why i support sligo cuz he plays for them.
you in OZ?
no i dont live in oz i live in somerset in england. i actually support everton and sligo of course.
goodman yourself, any plans to come over to the showgrounds?
suppoting everton and sligo is an absolute joy no punishment! as long as my cousin matt carry on playing for sigo i would love to make a visit and experience the sligo atmosphere. out of intrest does any one support any english teams?
man united after rovers....ever hear of nemanja vidic :D
its great here that there's a connection im a massive evertonian like im sure many of you are too. it was painful to watch the last 2 games but well come back. unfortunetly matt my cousin (matt gordon) supports liverpool:mad:. I tried to change his mind but i cant.
Unfortunately the english game is over hyped, over priced and over here. I'm sick to the teeth listening to people speak of english clubs and using the word 'we'. Yet the majority of these 'supporters' never stood in their teams ground. Nearest they get to going to a 'live' game is sitting on a bar stool and shouting at a telly. Following english football for the majority of these so called football fans is only an escuse to go to the pub.
Rant over :o
i agree that its overpriced but not over hyped. i understand what you mean loads of people in my school support liverpool and man utd they say theer great fans but actaully have never been to a game before. i try to go to between 10-20 games a season. i use the word we because fans are part of the club. many sligo fans im sure also say it.
agree. although there is really nothing we can do about it. the English league is the most poular in the world. over here we've got The Sun with their 20 page pull out,Match Of The Day on at prime time on a Saturday night and Today FM with 'Premiership Live'..all the EL gets is a crappy 3 page(if were lucky) pull out once a week in The Mirror and a badly produced EL Weekly at a time when most people are in bed asleep! As much as we go on about it, i don't think the LOI will ever come near The Premiership or LA Liga etc. although one thing for sure, the EL a hell of a lot more entertaining and exciting when it comes to title run ins/relegation etc. than its foreign competitors! ...my rant over :)
Conor I'm not hitting at you when I say people us the term 'we' when they talk about 'their' club. I'm on about the local people here in this area. Monday mornings at work all that's missing is the english accent. It's wall to wall english football with we this and we that. It's pathetic, it does my head in and the real annoying thing is one or two of these 'supportes' will ask me how Rovers got on the weekend
As regards the english game being over hyped well it is over here. I grew with the philosophy brits out now we have become a nation obsessed with british football and everyone wants to be part of it.
Support our own I say, support the Rovers :)
I understand that english football must annoy u as you should be supporting and talking about sligo rather than a team in england.fair point. Im am obviously obssed with english football but i suppose that is because i live in england. what are sligo games like, ive never been. got any songs about my cousin yet?!
Don't mind Sligoman. He's in a state of frenzy since Michael McNamara was nominated for a GAA All Star Award.
PS. He'll win it too (Mickey Mc that is)
how did matt gordon play against bohemians?
Wasn't on long enough really to pass judgement.
He was lively and looked for the ball. Hit the crossbar from close range when it looked easier to score but he did find the space and maybe a few more minutes on the park would have made a difference.
I like his attitude and he'll certainly improve with match practice.
out of ten how good do u think matt is for sligo?
he usally is at at his best after playing 4 games hell get better.
OK, Matthew, we'll take your word for it.
should matt gordon be rewarded with a contract at the end of the season?
