Where and when, and who do we want?
It's been a while, hi everyone!

Jayz, back after almost three years! Must be almost a record foot.ie sabbatical!
Nobody knows when the next round draw is. The FAI read this board, and I wouldn't be too disbelieving were they to read this post and exclaim "What, there's another round of this to organise?!"
Douglas Hall at home for me. Want to break the quarter final jinx this time, and the easier the draw, the better as far as I'm concerned. None of this "Let's take on a big team" stuff.
The third round is on 21/22 September so I'd guess the draw would be around 2 weeks before that.
Douglas Hall away for me, then we have a TV game in the semi.
Have to get by the semi first though...
We don't lose semi-finals...
Unless it's Shels. Thank God they're gone!
A lack of upsets in the third round there. Leaves quite a strong set of quarter finalists. Even Longford I wouldn't particularly fancy. The only really weak quarter finalists would be the winner of Douglas Hall v Limerick.
The draw is next Monday.
Schumi can we get this merged with the other thread?
I will bet any money we get drawn away to Derry or Cork - purely a guess and not based on any of the untrue and unfounded rumours about heated balls in the bag or about the boys needing 2 "big" clubs in the final for a big crowd..................
From the FAI website.
Every side gets a mention except us - cue bunker mentality / conspiracy theory / the balls are heated / maradona / DB Cooper / grassy Knoll etc ad nauseum...................................
Castle to host Cup draw
Dublin Castle will play host to the draw for the Quarter Finals of the FAI Ford Cup tonight (Monday, August 27th).
The eight clubs remaining in the competition will go into the draw, which will be performed by former Republic of Ireland international Ronnie Whelan and FAI President David Blood.
The draw will be broadcast live on the RTE 6.1 Sports News.
Of the eight clubs remaining in the competition, seven are from the eircom League of Ireland Premier Division, while one - Limerick 37 – is from the eircom League of Ireland First Division.
There are several mouth-watering possibilities from the draw, including a number of local derbies. Three clubs from Munster – Cork City, Waterford United and Limerick 37 – makes the possibility of a local derby in that end of the country a real possibility, while Dublin giants Bohemians and St. Patrick’s Athletic could square off against one another.
While not a local derby, Derry City and Cork City have provided the eircom League of Ireland with some magnificent battles over recent years and that fixture would be one to relish for the neutrals.
The Quarter Finals of the FAI Ford Cup will be played on the weekend of September 23rd.
Clubs in the draw for the FAI Ford Cup Quarter Finals
Bohemians
Cork City
Derry City
Limerick 37
Longford Town
St. Patrick’s Athletic
UCD
Waterford United
No mention of Longford either. They're just hyping the draw as much as possible- Bohs-Pats has more of a ring to it than UCD-Bohs. Still all teams should get a mention.
ah B******s
I'd have been glad of Limerick 37 but not that eager to get Longford. They're in fine form and when you add the 6 points back on not that far from us in the table.
Derry away again. That's four times we'll be up there this season.
Odd this. Everyone knew we'd get Derry away last week. You'd almost think the whole thing was rigged. Almost.
VOTE NOW!!!!!111
- That having ended the losing on tv jinx, only the never losing semi-finals counts now?
- That having ended the losing on tv jinx, the never losing semi-finals run is next?
- That statistical inference is more complicated than most people like to think?
- Or that Tony Mac acts in mysterious ways?
Ummm...we lost a semi last week?
That was my point!
Confirmed for the Friday, 7.45pm. No TV.

pretty pointless article but is the black fella with Timmy the same fella from the anti-racism launch?
Dunno.
We're going to get hammered though unless we can ge some of our injured players back. Would hope that Tony, Allie Mac and Bermo could be back - seem to be niggling injuries really. Doyler's obviously out, so Podge can come in. When's Paul Byrne back?! Would it be worth trying Paul Murphy instead of Hynes? Of even reinstating Timmy?
We badly need McNally or Tony Mc back, preferably both but I can't see Mahon being dropped. If Bermingham is still out Kenna could shift to left back if those two are back. If the three are all still out our defence looks set to be:
King---Shorthall---Kenna---Mahon ,
although I would prefer McMillan over Shorthall.
Podge isn't a left winger! I've never been impressed with him there. I'd rather give Fitzgerald or even Conan or Ger O'Callaghan a start there.
Anyone other than Hynes upfront- lazied player I've seen in a long time. I'd terminate the loan now if we can. Murphy did well in his brief appearance against Sligo- good movement off the ball and made some intelligent headers. Good workrate too. Timmy has done well since he got back into the team- harshly dropped, can't understand that at all. I wouldn't mind either upfront but I'd imagine Murphy is short of fitness. Also Podge could play upfront or Finn could play behind the striker. So many options...
Fitz is still injured, no?
Murphy looked lively on his debut and scored on Saturday; wouldn't mind a proper look at him. Derry away's probably not the place though.
You seem to have forgotten how we played against youz last month!
Could be worse - Derry v Bray in the 21s Cup Final!Quote:

While I'd tend to agree with you I still think he would be the best option, even taking that into account.
Not if we play like we did against Sligo.;)
Also chance I could be driving to this one.:D
