"Drogheda were the only side from Britain and Ireland to successfully progress from the UEFA Cup first qualifying round. "
We carry the hopes of Britain too:D
who can you face in the next round?
Take Dunfermline easily.
well done against the worst ranked team in it
;0
Thank God we've got one team through anyway !
What size of crowd was at Dalymount for it tonight ?
Jodi holds 2740
NORTHERN - Group 1 seedings
Seeded clubs Unseeded clubs
Blackburn Rovers FC (ENG) Myllykosken Pallo-47 (FIN)
Vålerenga IF (NOR) SK Liepájas Metalurgs (LVA)
Aalborg BK (DEN) FK Ekranas (LTU)
AIK Solna (SWE) HJK Helsinki (FIN)
Helsingborgs IF (SWE) Drogheda United FC (IRL)
So that's:
Blackburn Rovers @ Eng 36.618
Vålerengen IF * Nor 11.509
AaB Aalborg @ Den 7.129
AIK Solna * Swe 4.478
Helsingborg IF * Swe 3.478
Versus
Drogheda United * Irl 2.145
I know Blackburn would be a full house, good day out, all that crapola, plus TV rights (which would be good, granted)
but really, if you want to hope for progressing onward, or at least adding to the coefficiant, then you have to hope for one of the Swedish teams:ball:
If Drogs are drawn away from home first, I think their chances of progressing will greatly improve regardless of who they are drawn against.
looking at the seeded teams, i don't think Drogs will progress.
Bad year for the EL all round.
There's normally a live feed from UEFA of the draw, but I can't find it. Anyone help?
www.uefa.com, and on the top left hand side there's the link to the Uefa Cup draw.
Then you can select to either listen to it, Audio, or watch it, Video.
The way the Swedish teams are doing in Europe this season, they would cruise past Drogheda with ease.
drogheda are playing helsingborg
They get Helsingborgs.
And Dunfermiline get Häcken. I'll probably bowl down to that one as well as the Drogheda one.
Good draw in that it is the easiest they could have gotten and also Henrik showing up should get bums on seats.
Well, its our best chance of any kind of result (even one draw would do the coefficiant good)
Stephen Kenny got Swedish opposition too - Hacken
Won't be easy but Drogheda are the best team in the country at the moment and after the disasters that were Derry and Pat's we need the Drogs to do the League proud. To be honest 5-0 is disgraceful - Pat's are a lot better than that!
Personally think Drogs have a great chance of progressing against Helsingborg - they're no great shakes.
So why didn't yous win both legs of it??? :rolleyes:Quote:

Reasonable draw for Drogheda, but I'd still have to make them second favourites over two legs, mainly because of the first quali round results.
Be interesting to see what sort of player Larsson is these days.
:rolleyes:Quote:

But tbf, at least it wasn't Pats they were playing. Pats would have lost 5-0. :D

There's actually 2 Irish Clubs in Europe. Thanks for taking on that burden though. Must be tough carrying all those "hopes and dreams" on your own. Best of luck though obviously.
