The plan is to move in while the court process is still ongoing. Complete the main part of the stand thats half built (i.e. leaving the curved bits at each end uncompleted as these are the bits that would need to be demolished if Thomas Davis are sucessful).
Us moving in will not affect the Judicial Review as we will only be using the part of the main stand that will not be demolished no matter what the court decision will be so if Thomas Davis object to this it reveals their true motivation is to keep Rovers out of Tallaght. They would no longer be able to pretend otherwise.
The plan is currently being considered by SDCC.
Excellent news if true. I really hope it works out for them.
I'd really like to see this happen for Rovers but their rent is very important to Shels at the moment so i'm torn.
Yep, it was mentioned for the first time publicly at the open meeting on Thursday. As HulaHoop outlines it will serve to call Thomas Davis' bluff either way IF successful.
Thomas Davis are the biggest bunch of ******* goin.
As much as i hate/despise srfc(no real offence meant) when i hear the name of TD i fell the urge to kill.
There is nothing they could possibly gain from this dispute.
Wnkrs
Thats all they are.
That's dubs all over ofr ya tho! lol
Hula hoop, thats a class name. fair play!
Well done to the Shams, a master-stroke.
In the spirit of "Cheerio, shut the door on your way out...", fair dues homeless, I like yisser tactics.
No official statement to be made, that was just a text someone sent in. However the details discussed here are 100% true
Sounds like a smart ploy on the part of Rovers. I really hope TD do something stupid in response to this move. Nothing better than showing up the GAA for the money hungry bigots they are. But on the other hand, we need your rent!! I assume if rovers left Tolka now we'd get rent til the end of the season. Of course, with Shels, you can never safely assume anything
Does it have a licence?
Good move if it works out.

Squatters
:D
I doubt TD will be stupid enough to actually try and bloke this??
Well done, no point in continuing to offer Shels life support funds.;) It would also get rid of the dangerous Bohs ambush route to Rovers games.
great idea best of luck
Not trying to be smart, and hindsight is a wonderful thing, but why didn't Rover's take this approach before? Do Rovers have the money to do the work that will be needed to get this ground up to EUFA license standards?
SDCC will be completing the stadium so money isn't an issue. We'll still be in tolka for the rest of this season regardless.
Good news hope it goes ahead! I take it the temp stands will be like the ones used at Bray then?
Best of luck with this. As an aside the floodlights in St. Mels park look abandoned when I was down there last week-would add to the squatter chic if you could get a 40ft flatbed down to Athlone and help yourself to them before they go in a skip:)
I thought the original planning permission had now expired? Hope so, didn't An Bord Pleanala restrict matches to Saturday and Sunday afternoons only with a maximum of 6 midweek evening matches?
Have to say , I drive past there every morning and the playing surface is impeccable , obviously someone is maintaining it , it looks great.
Much as i dispise rovers and their element of scum "fans", i've always been in favour of them getting into Tallaght, being from Tallaght myself, i know how much the area would benefit from LoI football...(i won't talk about Tallaght Town selling out.....been over it too many times)
Know a lot of people involved in davis' and have been disgusted by their attitude on this issue....
Will be fun to see how they react to this news
Great news I hope it works out. I spend a lot of time in Tallaght and will definitely go to games there when it's in use. It's a great location, very easy to get to and should be easy enough to police. As long as the little scum bags don't take it over it has the potential to pull in very big crowds.
I would imagine that Rovers will get great crowds after they move to Tallaght, and then will drop off a bit after the novelty wears off a bit.
It'll be a great move for Rovers and the league and I hope it works out, and soon.
Really hope this gets the go ahead
fantastic idea by the Hoops - fair play
would love to see the TD reaction to this one!
Not according to my design.... or LUX level drawings i did up..... We have 4 floodlights, one at each corner (obviously)
The original design (done in 2000) didn't provide any pitch lighting in the roof.
If this will change now that SDCC have taken over i don't know, but the original design had floodlights in the corners and not on the roof....
I'f you'd like i can send you a copy of teh design (without our title block)
