Where's this on? Is it a full side or just reserves?
Not too sure about what sides will be put out but it is taking place in Corofin , I can't really see United putting out much of a side as they will have played the night before up at Drogs . I was only decided last night as the two clubs agreed on the date . I would check out local press and Radio and if you hear anymore info lets us all know .
heard that billy will probably be in charge of the team for this match, so the team will probably a mixture of u21s and the new players
Is Corofin in Clare? According to Google Earth it is.
is it in the same location as the old pitch?
if you're heading from galway to tuam just take the turn off towards corofi and its on that road on the right hand side before ya get to corofin
How did occasion go?
we won it 4-1. scorers were yeboah (2), moran and lester.
This was written on another website, I hope the poster doesnt mind me lifting it:
Starting Lineup was :
Rogers
Keane Lester Walsh McDonagh
Murph Robson Fagan Tracy
Yeboah Moran
The Team that finished :
Gough
James Lester Reilly Tracy
Fagan Robson Foley Davoren
Yeboah Unknown
Goalscorers were Moran, Lester and Yeboah got 2 nice goals. Really liked the look of Robson, think we have a really good player in Robson, takes down the ball and plays good passes, Fagan was good in centre mid aswell but faded abit when he was moved out right, Yeboah was excellent, ball stuck to his foot and he took his goals very well, McDonagh was very good at left back and its good to see Alan Keane back playing, good result.
It seems that vinny faherty has gone to the dark side. He togged out for shligo rovers tonite and scored the first goal. The new signings seem very good. I was impressed with Shaun Fagan and especially Daryl Robson. They both looked good in centre midfield. Yeboah seems to know where the goal is and always looks to have a shot. It was strange to see Barry scoring a goal. Cant wait to see who lines out against Cork on tuesday night.
I wouldnt worry about vinny, he was given a chance with us but wasn't up to it in Cousins eyes.
what time on tuesday is the match on?
EDIT:
just found out that it was Fahy, he plays for the under 21's and is from athenry.
All in all it was a good work out last night both teams played well againist the wind , i have to say Mensah looks a vey good player and I am sure he will start on Tuesday night . It was good to see Alan back again but he looked like he needed a few more matches before he returns to the side , but I am sure TC was happy with what he saw last night and it was great to see us play football on the ground instead of hoof and chase .
One last thing I would like to thank all at Corofin United who were very helpfull also special thanks to the Steward John Fahy who showed me around and told me of their plans for the future .
Enjoyable game.
Tommy Walsh played beside John Lester at the back and was very comfortable. Both of his uncles played in the original Galway Rovers League of Ireland teams in the late 70s.
I thought after the early concession of the goal, we were going to be humiliated, but we settled down to play some tidy stuff. As other posters have noted the new signings all showed up well and were hungry for possession.
It was great to see Alan Keane getting himself back to business and he certainly didn’t pull out of anything that came his way.
One other spectator I spoke to mentioned he was close to Yeboah (and the players were calling him Yeboah – eventhough I’d heard he’d rather be called ‘Michael’) for most of the first half and that he was forever moaning about the poor supply. Surely a sign of a great striker.:D
Very disappointed to see a local talent opt to play for Sligo. Fair play to him, he took his goal well, and from what I could gather, is on the point of signing for them.
Fair play to Sligo for travelling and Paul Cook seemed to be a decent person.
Finally, I wouldn’t mind moving our remaining fixtures to Corofin, if the outcome was going to be the same, but, in truth, as I posted on the Sligo board, there was very little bite in last night’s encounter as you would expect.
does anyone who was there reckon that yeboah will be first choice?? will it be yeboah and glynn on tuesday??
hoop
I would start the pair of them that's if Steve is still unfit .
Neither of them are very tall, if that counts for anything. But then again TC was a of a similar height and it didn't stop him being one of the most prolific strikers in the League.
