Whats it to the English PFA?
They might be but surely they'd have no juristiction in Ireland. AFAIK trade unions cannot work outside national borders. maybe its a typo and Cork mean the PFAI
Damn those unions, eh Pete? Always trying to shift the goalposts.
Since both of them played in England they are still(i think) members of the PFA.
PFAI have been very quite on this one haven't they, you'd swear they didn't even exist they have been so quite. Maybe they have different priorities though.
PFAI launch Healy, Farrelly appeal
Good luck with it.
That would be the PFA superfrank. The English equivilantQuote:
PFAI launch Healy, Farrelly appeal
The English PFA are spearheading this.
The PFAI, Cork City and the FAI have contributed statements etc.
The appeal has been rejected!
See the Official Cork City FC website.
Should move the Valur home match to July 1st and give the lads a run out the previous week for Colin Ts testimonial.
Makes the decision not to go in with the FAi even worse now
It was for the other players, including those who came from English clubs
This rule has always bothered me. What about the movement of people across borders within the EU and also the right of workers to work in any country within the union. Denying people the right to work seems to be in breach of all forms of human rights or are Cork paying the wages ( I know Colin Healy was signed on a pay as you play contract). If I want and am lucky enough to be able to work in three Financial Institutions in the one year, is there anything to stop me.
The court ruled against Cork and their appeal so Healy and Farelly are still not able to play until July but more importantly FIFA won't have to pick up their wage bill from when they signed but were not allowed to play.
Just a disgrace for UEFA, FIFA and the Court of Arbitration, one rule for the big powerful G14 clubs and another for the smaller "less significant" clubs!
Disgraceful. FIFA are standing firm on it now that it suits them.
Cork should have brought Fifa to a real court because what Fifa are doing has to be illegal surely?
Not a great decision. Thankfully from Corks point of view, July is only a couple of weeks away.
Looks like the lads are now in line to make their City EL debuts in Terryland on July 6th.
Hopefully they'll take a while to adjust!
League Cup QF against Bohs on 3rd July I think.
Debut match for the "Two" no doubt.
You can't register a player without full international clearance
Think the inter-toto deadlines are flexible enough though
We are being Ridden Rock Solid by so many people at this stage we should be making money out of it.:eek:
Tonights Echo says that Rico has a game planned in Bishopstown for the 2 lads tomorrow night and also hopes they will play for the U21s in Lifford on Sunday with a view to lining them up for Bohs away next Tuesday.
Can't come soon enough.
I'm sure the Bohs lads will give Gareth a great reception. :D
