Dublin I'd imagine. It's on tonight so obviously a desperate last-ditched effort. Alas, tickets sold out in record time and are very much thin on the ground the last few days as it's been talk of the town for weeks. Pity the weather is so bad for revelling, but you can never let the weather interfere in a good session, my spirit shall not be dampened!Quote:

But the majority of my friends went, with no negative reports. As a sign of socio-cultural shift the dance tent (and all its delightful corollaries!) has grown exponentially in popularity in recent years. The quality of bands playing vis-a-vis the DJs shows you the way the thing, and as I said culture, is going really; corrupted youth favouring ear-drum bursting electro. Though that's how I would have spent most of the night as well so I can't say much!! To be fair though for a lot of people it's the one night of the year where they, ah, shall I say, embrace dance music and actually like it for some strange reason I can't put my finger on.
Its kinda the same at ucc during rag week with the battle of the djs in the old bar. Though its techno that gets the crowd going the most usually.Quote:

eh, I have no idea what its like over there, only a few people that go to it. however i do know what its like here ( in london ) and its the meeting of "like minded individuals", is that better for you? I wasn't winding up its what I saw and beleive. Fortunately, I used to work with some of these lot, luckily no more! :) I moved away from dublin and that was one of the (many )reasons why :D I have about as much in common, as you prolly do with a hedgehog ( the *****ly stuff aside )!
Sorry to hear it. Suggest you are taking things a tad seriously when something like the Trinity Ball is a factor in driving you out of Dublin.
It's not been made an election issue yet but I'll watch with anticipation.;)

haha, no kingdom it wasn't like that at all. I went out with a mounty and she drove me nuts and all her mates i swore never again :) I am a perfectly balanced individual I have a chip on each shoulder ;)
no the one over here is attended by ex-pats who ( 95% of those ive met and worked with ), in all seriousness and fairness, i have nothing in common with as have anybody i know or socialise with over here. As i said they are very like-minded individuals, I'm just not like-minded like them, is that fair enough?
Oh and the drugs thing, ya the idea of the two of those in a stew does rightly turn me off. Thats not petty its just my opinion and belief through experience. One you might disagree with but its still my opinion.

I'd never heard of the London reunion ball, inevitably that will be incomparable to the proper Irish one. Those who attend the Dublin one would be a lot more of a mixed bag, certainly not so toff-dominated as you presumed without having attended. Regardless, I think there must have been a seismic shift in the attitude of the majority of D4 people since you were here. I'm in the most D4ful course in UCD and I must say that the vast majority are very pleasant and certainly don't adopt a supercilious attitude towards the lone Kerryman in the class. That's why I feel you are making sweeping statements and felt pushed to use the pretty derogatory 'toff' term. I think you've been unfortunate in the people you've met, or else you're the problem!!
