Portadown getting hammered are a disgrace to themselves and no one else... I think the Swifts gave a good account of themselves, and obviously we just beat Cork to reach the final. I think the Glentoran supporters will demand more from their team in the competition next year, especially if we beat Drogheda again.
Cliftonville are a good footballing side, and I have no doubt they will hold their own as well.. they can be inconsistant though.

Dungannon put up a brave fight, but I doubt that'll be much consolation for them.
I would have given MOTM to Nelson in the Swifts goal regardless of who won it.

Did Linfield fans run on the pitch and taunt the swifts supporters at the end? Looked like it on Tv. Nelson had some game. The commentating was sickenly biased towards Linfield, very hard to listen to.
Linfield 'fans' did run onto the pitch. They should be ashamed of themselves for that as I said on ILF.
Entertaining game overall. Very good first half, but second half was nowhere near as watchable.
You have to feel sorry for Dungannon. Winning would've meant more to them, as they haven't won anything important before.
Linfield fans/kids did run over to the Dungannon fans en route to being booed off the pitch by their own fans when the tannoy said 'no presentation till yees get off the pitch ! There was also the usual sectarian singing during the game.
The commentary on BBC was woeful. Sounded like 2 aul' culchies talking to each other in a pub. Seriously amateurish stuff.
TV said they were expecting about 9,000 at it.
A decent ad for the Irish League overall though. Don't forget - Welsh version is on today (Sunday) at 4pm on S4C (Channel 135 on ROI Sky). Should be easier to listen to commentary in Cymraeg than those 2 hallions on the BBC....
It was a good game, and the Dungannon keeper played a blinder.. as for the 'one game a year' brigade.. well we booed them off ourselves, and they were under no illusion what we thought of them. As for the attendance.. for tax purposes we will say that there were 5000... though it wasn't 'our' gate, as it was the final.
When it went to penalties, I was dreading it.. we have had a nightmare this last couple of seasons with them, and when the first two were saved.. lets just say the nails are well gone.

Also Linfield has in the past helped out Cliftonville, helped out Distillery and helped out other clubs who where in a financial mess. - This is one reason that makes us great
We also get very active in the community, no matter what persuasion and we have had youth groups at Windsor Park from the falls, shankill, andys town etc etc etc. We are a club that welcomes everyone. - This is another reason that makes us great
We have a support base that comes out to support us every week, rain hail sleet or snow. - This is what makes us great
We have a winning mentality that has stuck with us right through out history - This makes us great.
Linfield at one point where very close to bankrupcy only a few years ago. But trustees of our club bailed Linfield out. So we have been close to the point of administration. Thankfully our great support(trustees) bailed out our great club.
7 or 8 years ago Linfield bought Glenn Ferguson for 55k. Linfield had to borrow £30,000 from my club, the European LSC, another example of our great club and great support.
But really I shouldn't need to justify myself to you. And to be frank i find it rather amusing a Derry City supporter questioning how great Linfield is.
We are great, we have proved it through out history and we have nothing else to prove.

Linfield sold out there allocation and many where turned away. Unfortunately Health & Safety would not allow the North Stand to be divided into two. That would have meant an extra 3000 Linfield fans at the game.
This years attendance was reported at 7600. Which believe me isn't correct as there was 4000 alone in the Kop stand and 2400 in the North Stand and the South Stand only had a handful of empty seats so around 2600 in that Stand. Which brings the total of 9000. IF they had of split the North Stand into 2 we would have had around 12,000 at the game. Which might not be a massive attendance, but it is more or less the capacity of the ground.
This is one of the reasons why we need a new stadium. Which I have never been against, I just think the national stadium should be in Belfast.
