Phil Ryans aka The Hogan Stand has a large drinking area outside the front of it and it is just a 5 min walk from the Davitt Stand/Canal End/Whatever they are calling it now.Quote:

The Ivy House (Cartys) has open space at side and back. Good for food
The Cat & Cage, a real football pub. Good athmosphere.

One thing to note is that you shouldn't let which stand you are going to be sitting in dictate what pub you can drink in. Although the ticket will advise a certain route must be taken to gain access to your seat you can in fact gain access to any stand/seat from any entrance with the obvious exception being The Hill and premium levels.
I've never had any problems entering (30+ times) via the Hogan for a seat in the Cusack/Canal or via the Canal for a seat in the Cusack etc..,
I also know that for the France Rugby game they were encouraging people to use the Canal entrance for Hogan seats as the Hogan turnstiles were getting a bit chock-a-block just before the off - something which is going to be major factor for our matches.
The Big Tree is, as the name suggests, big too. Does food, or does on Sunday avos anyway. Patrick McGrath's is my favourite but will be cramped I would imagine.
Should be good and lively - won't see the same thing as the rugby with many people drinking in their old spots and bussing it to the game. Soccer fans should be better at finding their way around the northside...:)
I think Quinns or The Big Tree are the best pubs on the dorset/drumcondra side of Croker but obviously they will be completely jammed.
McGowans in Phibsboro after the game for some late night drinkin...;)
Maybe The Beggars bush will bus us in ala rugby style :D
I reckon meaghers or the big tree would be good. depends on what side of town your coming from though!

Exactly. Can't believe people would drink in usual pubs and then bus it out to the ground. Might as well get into the swing of things and adapt to the new surroundings, if it is new to you, especially for the Saturday matches. I think there's loads of great pubs in that area and lot of the ones mentioned are pretty big in fairness. Quite looking forward to that aspect cos even though I'm well acquainted with area from living there and GAA matches going back to teenage years most of the guys I'd go to footie with wouldn't be at all so a major change of scenery for them but they'll love that.Quote:

Big Tree is a good spot.................3 bars, 1 out in the beer garden which is a decent size. Also has a big screen and is dead handy for the Hogan and the Davin stand (couple of minutes walk).
For those who don't know, it's right on the junction of the North Circular Road and Dorset street and most of the buses out of town stop right across the road from it.
quinns was great before england rugby match. bit packed but bit of a sing song and some good Irish tunes played beforehand
ya quinns is quinns quarries, always play seome decent irish tunes beforehand. can only imagine the same for soccer.

Are Bohemians or Shelbourne opening their club bars ?
Both are relatively close to Croke Park and would be good meeting points for
supporters.
The bar in Dalymount is usually open for internationals and usually does specials eg all pints €3.00, not sure what the story is for Saturday though.Quote:

There are a few pubs around Connolly Station but none are particularly worth spending any amount of time in. Depending on what area of the ground your tickets are for, probably better to head up to the Dorset Street area that is being discussed here.Quote:
