On the subject of loans, I'm totally against Derry City loaning players to Shels until Ollie Byrne is proven to be completely uninvolved in the running of the club, which AFAIK is fairly unclear at this stage.
On its clear that new administration is in place, I'd be happy to help Shels in their time of need.

He done well with us in our first season with a brand new squad. Although he did run us into the ground financially before running off to Derry. Who didn't fall for the guy I hear....
Exacty, look at the players he brought into Kildare. He's a chequebook manager. His teams play rubbish football (including DC last year), even when they have good players. He does get his players to play for him though, I'll give him that much. With a 9k a week budget he will be a flop if he doesn't walk the first division.Quote:

Philly, Keely didn't run Kildare County's finances into the ground and whoever told you that is wrong. Sure he had a lot more money than John Ryan does at the moment but if he stays within a budget that has he agreed with the board, how does that mean he ruining the clubs finances? It's up to the board to decide the budget and as long as the manager stays within that, any financial problems are then the board's fault. It's very easy to blame Keely but if Shels are offering him a 9k weekly budget, as a manager, he is hardly to going to say he doesn't need all that money is he?Quote:

I also despise Keely as did a lot of Shels fans, The main reason was the way Keely gets his team to play football (Or the lack off), i was glad to see the back of him after the Boh's game in Dalymount a few years ago, But i believe he is the Best manager we could have got in at this time, and is probably the one man who could get us out of the first division in the next two seasons.Quote:

Not pettiness at all. I have actually met the man after the debacle and find him a decent enough bloke. i have a lot to thank him for - watching his tactics in full swing led me to have a creak in my neck for 6 months and I I learned so much about the night sky under his stewardship. If we wanted to loan players out we can send them to Higgsy and McCann at Harps anyhow for valuable experience.Quote:

As far as I am concerned one does not sign a Premier squad for a small club and then run off where more money is at the first opportunity. He let the club down big time. He is the sort that convinces boards he has what it takes to deliver if they make the resources available (just look at Dublin City). We as a club fell for it.
He is undoubtadly a cheque book manager.
Thankfully we are now pretty much debt free and have all the tax paid up. A fresh start for us from this season forth. Lets hope we don't appoint a journey man like him ever again - a lesson learnt.

I personally find it annoying they are having players thrown at them by other clubs. Also I find it annoying that their wage bill will be so large considering they will still have many outstanding debts and be living off Ossie Kilkenny's dripfeeding. It's like they have learnt nothing.
That's just my view on it.
They have got James Hussey as well.
Brohpy and Harte are good signings for the First Division. McEneff is unproven and has been out injured for the past year or so. He has metal plates in his foot.

tony o dowd apparently has signed as well.is there not a rule regarding the signatures of players who have played junior or intermediate football in the last six months or something?
Ex-Bray player Carian Ryan has supposedly signed as well.
