Mid thirties? I'd say more like late twenties. They were only about ten, and that was around 1990ish.

Pulp recorded a Yesterday too. I'm sure there are plenty more. "Stay" was also the name of David Bowie single off Station to Station. That DJ fella Sash had a hit of the same name in the late nineties.

Bernard Butler of Suede and McAlmont & Butler also had a nice Stay.
The Drifters one might have been Please Stay i'm unsure. Another Bacharach classic.

The third Power of Love also in 1985 was by Jennifer Rush.

Apparently every song but the title track of U2s All that you can't leave behind had a title taken from some other song ...not deliberately ...just lack of imagination.
