I thought UCD would go down but i really admire their effort and dispite little fans etc. i hope they stay up... Drogheda tried to run before they could walk and with their track record on signing moneybags i'd fancy them to go down... Bray, i hate the Carlisle creché....
Bray automatically, i'd say this is one year UCD won't get away with it. No place to hide in the new ten team league!

Besides you'd have little problem going to Belfield rather than Drogs... The good thing about a Dublin and District league is that the only games i haven't seen are the Derry and Cork away ties...
That will be three games this season...
Waterford and Limerick to come up... nice one... but i don't know who'd come up with Waterford...
does that not say you want lims to come up?:confused:Quote:

Magoo. as you know, what you'd like and what you get are two different things.... I'd like Limerick but i don't know what we'd get...
Belfield is a soul destroying place to watch ball.....Quote:

Anyone who plays on Thursday nights should be automatically banned from the premier (and that includes Derry....)Quote:

I wouldn´t say banned, but I agree with your thinking. It´s crazy.Quote:

I voted for "UCD automatically, Bray in the play off" mainly because I think that is the option that will benefit the league most. i wouldn´t be surprised to see the drogs replace one of them in going down though.
I've agree on banning thursday night weekend matches for some time now. Thursday is not the weekend! Should clubs be allowed to play their weekend matches om wednesdays in future?Quote:

Exactly.... wasn't particularly trying to start this debate again - but I'd rather Waterford didn't make it up for this reason alone....Quote:

I understand Derrys position regarding the Dog track but what waterfords excuse... Friday or Saturday night's would be great... nice town IMO so I wouldn't mind the trip...
Why? Its not that bad..........but for away it isQuote:

BTW, yis all want UCD out cos they nick points of everyone... but Cork just have to be sick!!!:p
Exactly.... the clubs that play thursday have no regard for opposition players, officials and not least supporters...... Thursday night is not the weekend......Quote:

I voted for Bray automatically and Drogheda in the play-offs.
As far as I'm concerned Bray are already down, they have little or no confidence and all that jazz.
Then we come to Drogheda, I think that they're financial problems will have crippled them completely by the time UCD visit O2 park later this season, if they still own it that is...
Also they insist on playing Myler which is absolute suicide, other than that their strike force is desperate. Fabio put in a good performance on Friday (apparently) but the simple fact is is that he's not good enough for the top division. He's quick but he's got no ability in the air and he has no physical presence at all. Their management and board are clueless too.
UCD then are in no financial trouble and have a very good team spirit, we are also in good form when it counts. The only worries that I have for us is our next two games against Bohs and Shamrock Rovers (I'm fairly sure that's it), I can sense two very good performances coming and two unlucky losses too. I realise that I should be a bit more upbeat especially after the Cork and Pat's game but we've had games like this too many times before (the game against $h£l$ being a perfect example).
But, if we can come out of those games in the same position that we're in now then I don't see us going down.
That was pretty much my thinking, I voted Bray + Drogheda as well.
The next three games are Bohs away, Rovers away and $hels at home BTW.
i wud like dundalk to come up with waterford and bray and ucd to go down........so 2 louth teams in the premier division
isn´t one bad enough  ;)Quote:

It means I won't have too many long trips too away games.

I voted for Bray automatically, and they REALLY ARE looking like they will drop, and UCD. City just can't seem to beat them regularly, it's as bad as the Longford situation, so to have them out of the way would be a major bonus. Waterford to come up as 1st Division Champions, Cobh via the play-offs.
Murphy Out Now!!!
Can't see past Drogs for the automatic spot. I reckon UCD will gain enough points and beat Bray in the 6 pointer.
We've got Drogheda at the end of the season too.Quote:

Before the weekend I would have said Drogs automatically and Bray play off.
But the weekends results were tottally unexpected. So im going for UCD automatically and Drogheda in the play off.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaterford are all but up, but then they were humbled big time by Dublin.
playoff spot, well Harps' win yesterday put em into 2nd. So id say Harps will keep their form and go up in the playoff, no matter who they play.
Christ, we draw with Bohs and people decide that we're more likely to go down!:rolleyes:Quote:

I don't think we're completely safe from being dragged in, or Derry, so that'll make next weeks game very important.....
However, if we could be Drogs on Saturday, we should be safe - we're playing well enough, but frankly couldn't score in Blazers at the moment....
Yeah, I hadn't really considered anyone other than Drogs, Bray and ourselves being involved but Derry and Longford aren't far off. There's only a few games left though so a win or two would have you safe probably.Quote:

yeah thats true - pluys i dont know why everyone is so convinced Derry will defo pull through. Sure they've a game in hand but they're not completely out of the 'zone'Quote:

Their game in hand is against one of the top clubs too. (Shamrock Rovers I think)Quote:

I don't think that this is far from the truth! UCD are only consistent at being inconsistent. As a result, playing UCD is like buying a lucky bag - you think you're bound to get something good but sometimes you end up highly disappointed!Quote:

In fairness, we haven't really played that badly all season. Off the top of my head we were unlucky not to get 3 points or at least a draw at: Bohs and Cork in August (lost 2-1 & 3-2) we also drew wiith Bray. In September we lost 1-0 at Drogheda, In October only a deflected shot saved $h£l$ from dropping 2 points and more recently we lost due to a goal which mightn't have been a goal at Derry and we were one up at Bohs for 74 minutes.Quote:

So luck rather than being inconsistent is our problem.
Not wishing to sound clicheed, luck generally evens itself out over a season. So I would suggest that if UCD have been as unlucky as has been claimed, they're due a serious purple patch over the coming weeks. On the other hand however, maybe its the case that UCD have dropped points that they should have picked up and conversely, gained a few points rather fortuitously.Quote:

So now with 4 games to go, who reckons what will happen. I previously said UCD and Drogs i think.
Now id say that Bray for automatic and City to put UCD into the playoff which they will lose to Harps.
Waaterford to win div 1 obviously at this stage.
the way Longford are going, it could well be us....
:(
My prediction is still Drogheda & Bray.
With Bray 6 points behind and only 12 points possible, I really don't see them getting up.
Our next three games are Pat's, Drogs and Bray and I don't see us picking up anything less than 5 or 6 poinst from those games which as good as puts us out of the battle for the automatic spot. The play-off can still go many ways IMO but with Drogheda's run-in I think that they are favourites.
Looks like we were unlucky so.:DQuote:

It looks like Bray are going to finish bottom but the play off is very close. On form, you'd have to say that Longford are in the most precarious position.
