Say No more boss...Its SUMMERVILLE ROVERS...Brand new state of the art clubhouse..New pitch in the horizon(much needed..we will be going from the worst pitch in town to the best in the next year or so)...Excellent schoolboy setup and 3 teams in the junior league and all going well in there leagues ..The future is bright the future is SUMMERVILLE ROVERS!!! Watch this space!!!
summer who? is the echo around foot.ie this morning.......................
This is a very subjective thread if one were to put down a few markers such as points out of 10 for the following
Pitch
Clubhouse
Dressing rooms
Car parking
All weather training facilities
Supporters
Sponsors
involvement with the local community
Schoolboy/ Girl setup
Youth Setup
Active and inclusive committee
Good dicipline
Add them all together and then see who comes out top but remember its not about winning cups and leagues just about the best run club
Keep this thread on-topic,it deserves as much.

Corbally, on all fronts.
Murroe A.F.C.
I note with interest that all clubs listed by all posters so far in this thread are city clubs, there is life outside the city limits lads!
Murroe A.F.C.
F.A.I. National Club of the Month for Feb 06
2 full size playing pitches
Floodlit All-weather training pitch
Clubhouse
Plenty of car-parking
Bought and paid for the land on which all this sits, unlike a lot of clubs who get land given to them or leased long term from county/city councils.
And as of last Friday night the club debt is now nil.
2 junior mens teams, 1 senior ladies team, 15 schoolboy/girl teams
Memebers of club sitting on L.C.S.L. committee, L.D.M.C. committee, and Limerick Ladies League committee. and so on ................
can any club in Limerick top that?
i agree also club outside the city with great facilities is
Killmallock FC
2 great pitches and all weather pitch good parking with nice clubhouse
another one is
Herbertstown FC
good pitch , good clubhouse, bit tight on parking though
Chareville FC
2 good pitches , good parking and good clubhouse also right beside LIDL'S for good shopping after game :)
Pitch: View/Boro/Pike/Ch'ville/3 pitches in rathurd
Clubhouse: Boro/View/Pike
Dressing rooms: Shelbourne/Boro/Ch'ville/Murroe/
Car parking: Pike/Ch'ville
All weather training facilities: Murroe/Mungret/Boro have gym(dont know if that counts)
Supporters:Dines/Wembly
Sponsors: Pike / Wembly
involvement with the local community:Dines?/ He'bstown?
Schoolboy/ Girl setup: Dines/ View/ Ashling
Youth Setup: Dines/Wembley
Active and inclusive committee: Cant Comment
Good dicipline : Wembley/
id say pike+fairview they have the two best pitchs+clubhouses in town boro had a good one but seems to have being let to be run down for the last couple of years+plus they rent out part of their pitch now as well
what about purely training facilities.....................
alot of clubs have to pay good money to other bodies such as LIT / Villiers/ UL etc to rent them weekly...... maybe a bit of investment would pay off and clubs could actually rent out their own facilities to generate income to better the club and therefor soccer as opposed to paying for other clubs/bodies facilities. eg astro turf/ lights etc. ??????????????????????????
Pitch: Pike field has been consistently the best for many seasons now.
Clubhouse: Pike a bit dated but very good. Boro likewise. Fairview club also very good.
Dressing rooms: Anybody but Pike, but I believe they're making improvements there.
Car parking: Pike on match days....not at night though.
All weather training facilities: UL provide excellent facilities for all clubs to use.
Supporters: Each to their own I guess. All clubs in Limerick are very very clannish.
Sponsors: Pike
involvement with the local communityi? Most country clubs.
Schoolboy/ Girl setup: Dines
Youth Setup: Dines/Wembley
Active and inclusive committee: All committee members that pull their weight deserve to be cannonised. I did this for several years with a now sadly defunct club and know that it is nothing but a thankless job.
Good dicipline : Varies from year to year I suppose.
I suppose I would consider Pike the best run club in town and if they restore the schoolboys and youths to what they were years ago, they will be a super example of what a football club should be.
IF wembley had the resources the other top club have
they would be one of the
best as they have a great youth system going on there
youth set up is only one of the criteria on the list
In My own opinion Murroe would be the best run club at the moment in Limerick
Pitch: two excellent pitches
Clubhouse: Club house to meet the clubs needs and also the needs of the community
Dressing rooms: Superb dressing rooms
Car parking: Ample parking for home and away teams
All weather training facilities: Superb Floodlit all weather playing surface
Supporters: When see they are vocal
Sponsors: Dont know but as the club is debt free its a small point
involvement with the local community: Excellent involvement
Schoolboy/ Girl setup: One of the strongest in the league
Youth Setup: Dont know
Active and inclusive committee: Very active very forward seeing committee
Good dicipline: Good both on and off the field
Pitch closest to clubhouse in Murroe is very poor. Huge slope down to one corner. Apart from that, excellent set up.
Never even knew that murroe had all these facilities out there...Must take a trip out there and compare there facilities with our ow.n.....Will get back to ye on this!!!
Dazzler, what club are you involved with? you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about the boro.. if you recall pike shared with abbey a few seasons ago, where they stuck for cash???? i doubt it.Boro have 2 PITCHES,Boro are giving carew park the use of their Second pitch as carew are homeless at the moment. it has nothing to do with money...(rent being paid by organisation that took carews pitch from them)other clubs turned them down.. Both pitches are in top condition if a bit soft at the moment, other remidial work is presentley being carried out and other improvement will take place when the weather conditions improve.Dressing rooms are 3years old and top notch. On the financial side, The club has zero debt and rseources available to carry out any improvements that the co'mitte see fit. doubt if many clubs in any sport in limerick are on as sound financial footing as the boro.
id have to say Corbally.the pich is abit open but the surface is usually good.they have decent dressingrooms and a huge car park.on the field they always have successful schoolboys and there juniors aint half bad either.the players are all from the surrounding areas which i think is very important to clubs.they have an all whether pitch aswell.only thing they are short is a bar which im sure is in the pipeline
have used murroe's facilities, excellent, good man running show out there, D.Maguire..Only minus is one of the pitches sucks..
never even knew murroe had a team! hoops 1967
most of city teams don't realise there are county teams PERIOD!! :)
did you enjoy result on tuesday HOOPS, there is only one nakamura
Id agree with you that Corbally Utd have absolutely excellent facilities. Well done to them! You mention them being short a bar. Now maybe this should be for a whole new thread but I dont agree. I dont think soccer clubhouses are the proper place for a bar. Ok I might sound mad, its a great money spinner, especially if you have a function room, (eg Pike, Boro), but theres something that just doesnt sit well with a soccer club floggin drink to people to pay for the promotion of sport?
Thats my opinion anyway.
It is possible to store the mind with a million facts and still be entirely uneducated.

who owns the pitch in rathurd between geraldines and poacher rovers?
A/a As Far I Know, When Looked After It Is The Best Of The Lot...
you couldn't be further from the truth...having a bar is the worst thing for a club...the amount of work that goes into the day to day running of a licensed premises you wouldn't believe, aks any publican, I know one club that would close their bar in the morning if they could.:ball:
Agree with some of your sentiments, but why would a club want to close its bar? and why do you say if it could?
Sees it, would you not think that if ex-players want to stay involved with a club, they would be better off
1. getting involved on the committee, I know of a lot of clubs who are basically being run by the same handful of people all the time, people do get tired!
2 Coaching underage teams or junior teams, we all know its hard to find good coaches!
3 Helping out with fundraising, I dont know of any club that doesnt need money! and when it comes to fund-raising its always a case of the more involved the merrier. Many hands make light work, etc.
Propping up a bar might put a few pence into a clubs coffers now and again, but its not really doing the club any good is it?

Oh I couldnt possibly say holycrossjack, but watch this space, Im sure the front pitch will be levelled over the next year or two.
