Great idea and a good cause. Is it going to be on at Jackman or Hogan?
Great idea. Although when I saw the thread title I thought they were playing Liverpool!!!!
Time of the kick off changed
Hi
There will be some surprise guest players for the Limerick V the LDMC on the 18th More Anon
Danny Drew prehaps? :) sad thing is i wouldnt be surprised!
Bobby Ryan will be one of the guest players coming home to limerick for the game, Bobby who is from Moyross wanted to play his part in this as do a number of others, Thanks to shelbourne for his release for the game
this is a good cause but they should have opicked some other team to play limerick never did anything for junior soccer
Great idea it will be great to see bobby playing at home again im a 100% in agreement with you old keeper well said
Great idea about a match to raise funds for the kids but the timing of it is dodgy because a lot of people will opt to watch chelsea v's barca
Hi All lets make an effort this evening to fill Jackman and really show soccer in a good light!
what was the OT team ?
Limerick used 23 players last night
The lads were sound asleep for ldmc's two goals, which were both well taken in fairness
The satisfying part about it was that as poor as Limerick were twas plain to see for anyone with eyes how patently superior they were to the Junior boys
I'd probably take Ross Cosgrave, Keith Hartnett and Alan Barry as SQUAD players. The rest are at their level tbh :ball:
Don't know about that lad, lfc were the better side but not by much. When you consider that lfc have been playing together week in week out aswell as all the training they do together. I think the OT team played well and proved that the gap between lfc and top junior football isn't that much. The OT team scored two crackers, the lfc goals were from mistakes rather than good play.
Fair enough but we used 23 players!!
I thought there was genuinely a pretty big gap to be honest both in the way we played the game and our fitness levels.
I agree the two goals were excellently taken but there isn't a hope in hell they would have been allowed waltz through like that in a competitive game
Oh and Pa Mullaly, if your reading this: Alan Barry is a fine player and strong as an ox but there's only so many times your defenders can lump the ball aimlessly in his general direction before he gets tired ;)
Lim,
I think you are showing your insecurity by trying to prove how good you were compared to how bad someone else was.
I watched the game in the company of Eoin Hand and his view was the best three players on the field were Junior players, Cosgrove, Coombs and Hartnett.
Just to remind you Rossy has played Junior football for the last couple of seasons and has been marked out of most games. He mades dickeys put of Limerick.
Before you get into that stupid argument about whats better (after all it is senior soccer) don't knock the Junior players who were every bit as good on the night.
BK
Honestly, when all the young lads came on they looked streets ahead of the OT. 18yo Dave Miller in midfield, Dave Ryan when he came on, Ger BOurke when he came on, thought Finni was solid worst on the night had to be special guest Behan from Cork city. I thought he was cack!
Have to agree to an extent with this. These players did look good when they came on. But the junior players mentioned (cosgrove, hartnett, treacy) also looked just as good as them. I wouldnt say the Limerick lads were streets ahead.
Although I did enjoy watching David Dunphy retreat 10yards every time Dave Ryan got the ball. He looked terrified to get near him. Guess Dave roasted him a few times at Balla training.
Being honest I was just on a bit of a wind up mission :o
Suffice to say, some of the junior lads were handy and Limerick are the best club in town. Don't mean that as an insult to anyone, it's just how things are and indeed the way they should be :ball:
It's just the whole "joke" attitude that a lot of junior people around town hold towards Limerick F.C. can grate after awhile especially when the evidence doesn't back it up :ball:
