ok from the SC meeting last night with 'Nice-Guy Brian' ©,
there is a UEFA rule of a minimum number of seats of 7,000 for any uefa game.
City currently have 5,500
= PROBLEM
there are MFA plans to knock the shed and seat it but they aint going to be happening soon
RESULT we either convince the GAA to let us play in the Pairc (fat chance) or else we play it in Tolka fuppin park..

He was saying that he might organise temporary seating for the Shed, but surely they wont fit more than 500/600 seats in the Shed. So, that still leaves us short 1000 seats.
It looks like we wont be playing our Champions league (;) ) fixtures in Cork next year. :mad:
yeah, its a problem alrght, but realistically, we have the bones of 10 months to do something about it. Hopefully can be sorted out.

what sort of a dream world are you living in?
what could possibly be done in 10months when for prob about 8 of them CCFC will be playing in the Cross.. and anyway the hassle and planning and money to seat the shed would be more in line with a 3 or 5 year timeframe not a 10 month one
face it - the best we can hope for is the home leg in flancare park
what irratated me last night was nice guy brian © even suggesting we play 2 away fixtures in the competition.. surely thats not taking europe seriously at all??

also im pretty sure that this seating criteria only covers the group stages. in the inter toto cup pats played in Inchicore - only 2000 seats and they had fans on the terraces:confused:
rule doesnt count for inter toto
but does for uefa and champ league ( where we'll be playing)

I guess Flancare Park is our best option, just so long as we dont have to suffer the humiliation of playing it in Dublin

to have to play your 'home' tie not in your home ground
let alone in another county of province..or even in the pale (worst case scenario)
and if its even hinted at that we play 2 away ties, then nice guy brian © is no better imo then plonk or any of his predecessors for letting that happen
i know its a while off yet but just mentioning it now before its ontop of us and no-one knew it was going to happen

remember flancare, which wasn't ready the day before longford's uefa cup match last season was okayed
and back in 93 bishopstown did not meet uefa's criteria but the galatasary match still went ahead there

exactly. What I remember from that UEFA booklet I have, is that the rules for the preliminary round and the 1st round proper are different. IMO, we would more than likely be ok for the prelinary ground.Quote:

3: i never said that was his fault. what i did say was proposturous (sp!) was the fact that he said depending on the draw they might consider playing 2 away legs.. that IMO is fuppin rediculous and makes a mockery of CCFC and how seriouslythe competition is valued by the club..
And as BL is in sole charge of the club now and we dont have 7 directors anymore, this viewpoint of his, is therefore the clubs viewpoint, and one which i think is a disgrace.. other then that i was quiet satisfied with his response to all questions last night and i hope to god he reconsiders this rediculous idea of even potentially conceeding home advantage.

Ok, far from ideal, but which would you rather- playin 2 games in a week in latvia or wherever and making a holiday out of it, or travelling there for away leg and then dublin for home leg? there's also a download available on the uefa site with the rules and regulations for the UEFA cup, maybe details in there. Only prob is there's an error on the page-maybe one of ye computer buffs can do something with it!

It says it will be considered an all-seater stadium provided the standing terraces remain closed. So, I wonder does that mean we could get away with just closing off the Shed like we did against Lausanne 2 years ago.
i think he has. for one thing, take a look at the clubs in the preliminary rounds of the uefa cup and champions league. many of them dont have that amount of seating. there was talk of dundalk hosting their leg of the uefa cup match at home. it would have meant fencing off all of the ground except for the stand which only holds about 600Quote:

Yup, sure Uefa bringing in this licencing system which in theory would close down prtetty much ever irish club. These rulkes are rarely implemented overnight as Uefa are accomadating if clubs seen to be be progressing.Quote:

Its unlikely city will win the league plus would have 6 months from winning league to first euro game to get 1,000 extra seast into the cross. Even if you let the shed along could possibly get them in on the sides of thre st annes end & alongside the stand.
Flancare only has 6000 or 6500 seats if i'm correct?
IMO city should start making plans to knock the shed in the medium term anyway. With the FAI about to get more cash for development than ever before backed up by government capital grants city may only need to come up with as little as 30% of any building costs... There will never be a better time & teh shed will go sometime anyway.
Has anyone considered that 7000 seats is too much for most of the leagues similar in size to the EL? I.E. Irish league, LoW, Iceland, Malta Luxemborg etc........half the entrants to the competitions would be affected. I think its just that all stadia need to be all seated. capacity cannot be that high surely

The rules are far from strict. For the prelims I think City would be alright, but this is all ifs and buts at the present. We ain't qualified for anything.
Has anyone read the FAI eL handbook? It's a great read. Each Div One club is supposed to have in the region of 800? covered seats. The Premier is far more.
Every ground is supposed to have running hot water!
All football bodies make stupid rules and don't enforce half of them. Do you remember a while back they had a big conference and one of the main decisions taken was that if you were wearing shorts underneath your gear, they had to be the same colour as the gear?
These guys have a great life.
