Irish hip-hop

Can anyone recommend some class Irish rap songs? Scary Eire's 'Dole Queue' was amazing but anyone know of any other good ones?

damien dempesy, dublin town or something like that. one of the worst pieces of music i've ever heard.

i remember he did it at the best in the street in longford, certain members of section O had great fun that night.

And what in the world does Damien Dempsey have to do with Irish hip-hop? You're understanding of hip-hop is clearly misaligned.

I remember years ago Bass Odessey were the first Irish hip-hop/break-beat artists. They had a few great tunes and always put on a good live show. Don't know where they are now.

The Irish scratching champion DJ Tu-Ki is pretty good.

Lads, enlighten me.

What IS hip-hop????

I watch the occasional video on MTV and hear it mentioned as a hip-hop song but what is it compared to, say, r'n' b???

Do you know that video of the group dancing to that Fatboy Slim song when at the end, the lead dancer says they have a hip hop feel???

I don't get it??

What about " Ship Ahoy"? can't remember the artistes name but it was about all the Invasions we had in Ireland and Sinead O'Connor did a warble on part of it. Think that one of the members may have been Oisin Lunny son of Donal.

I still cannot see the difference between jungle, garrage, hip hop, trip hop etc.

I have an idea what drum 'n' bass is but I check out the various music channels on Sky that cover this kind of stuff - MTV Base (343), Kiss (350), Channel U (360) but TBH it doesn't do anything for me.

For example, where does Outkast's "Hey ya" fit in regarding the above categories. I like that song....a bit.

There's a British rap artist on Channel U at this moment and he rapped hip hop in the lyrics. The backing music has a kind of delayed loop sound sample. Song has just ended but they never mentioned who the artist or song is. Rapper has a white t-shirt with "nobody's perfect" on it.

Don't worry Hamish, I don't know the difference either(:eek: ), nor do I care to be honest. I listen to a song, if I like it, I like it, regardless of what "catagory" it falls under.
