I swear those travel agents are pr*cks.
Checking the net there to get a package to cyprus again this year, went last year and had great craic.
On 2 sites it said 490 for a week in ayia napa Oct 1st - 8th.
So i thought nice one, we paid 600 last year for a shockingly organised trip by the now infamous Global Travel and that was the cheapest around so I thought Bargain, 490.
But when i rang up to book it, what had they done????
Withdrawn teh flights to "Review their prices"
That is unbelievable like.
Seriously, who governs theses flight companies and travel agents??
How can they be allowed to hugely increase their prices just when they feel like it?
What a joke
not gonna be cheap. looking at 300 plus for flights alone
My cousin is getting married in London the day before so
doubtful I'll get to it. Good job its that game cos I was
there for the last one!
I'll be around Cricklewood so Im sure I'll find an Irish spot
there to see the match :p
Booked Cyprus Airways ex Heathrow out Thurs am back Sun Pm 1st 4 €257 each, next 4 were €331 each, that was in the space of a couple of minutes.
Flying BMI Baby to heathrow €74 return to Heathrow.
www.cyprusairways.com www.bmibaby.com
you did well, going the same way for 360 euro, lufthansa via frankfurt is 400 euro but yoiu dont gett in till 2am fri morn
dont like that place at all. have a package from belfast for 440 direct flights for a week back in time for czech game. includes accommodation.. could be worse i guess
We got the same flights, leaving Dublin early on Thursday morning and getting back at about 11 on Sunday evening. Came to 340.Quote:

Would rather have spent Thursday night at home but Larnaca would have been my next choice.
Did anyone go out there last time? If you have any info on how to get there cheapish or where to stay/not to stay, then please post your thoughts. Thanks in advance.
well checked last night and budget was 393pp for week in ayia napa on the 5th for 1 week ... Ayia napa was great crack last time think ill give it miss this time though .. Very good deals to be had if you book via england .. try thomascook.co.uk ..Quote:

We stayed in Avenue Hotel Apartments in Larnaca.
Nothing at all fancy but clean, cheap and quite near the beach and pubs.

Got a 7 seater taxi from Larnaca to Nicosea, wasnt overly dear.
Also ended up in Ayia Napa after the game cos we couldnt get a bus or taxi back to Larnaca.
Drank ourselves silly there and got a taxi back to Larnaca, about €20-€30, at god knows what time.
Yeah no problem .. all the irish bars in ayia napa put on a bus for the game think it was around 15 euro rtn so not bad at all .. You can just buy your ticket when you get over there ..Quote:

You will find accomodation when you get there, the 2 places we stayed in were pretty rough, but who cares, you don't really spend much time there!!
I'd say within a few weeks travel agaents will have good offers for the trip. This is one I hope to make. I've heard alot of good things about Cyprus. The game away to San Marino looks like it will be changed to somewhere in Italy not too far from San Marino itself. Their ground only fits 5000.
you are kidding right?Quote:

doubt they will have good deals but thought ayia napa was lovely great beach and not as kippy like gran canaria or crete ..Quote:

Try the Crown Moran. It is the old Crown but done up to real high standards. Bar has big screen and several small screens. I think the London Supporters Club use it for their meetings. http://www.crownmoranhotel.co.uk/Quote:

is the cheapest way.Check out Libra Holidays we have already booked a week in Ayia Napa which we stayed in for a fortnight last year and loved every minute of it cant wait to go back. The flight back on the 11th gets in to belfast at 10.50 giving you plenty of time to get down to Landsdowne for the Czech game.
The food is exceptional there and Charlie in the Golden Arrow Pub is the friendliest and best barman in the world.
Cheapest way to get to Cyprus is Via England.Last year I done Cork- Stanstead (Ryanair)and Stanstead Larnaca (http://www.sterlingtours.co.uk)..................This year I booked early and went direct .
Try Malev Dublin-Budapest with a connection to Athens, followed by Cyprus Air Athens-Larnaka. Worked out fairly cheap for me last time out, though a pain in the arse timewise (11 hours travelling or something). But if you're looking to save cost first and foremost, could be an option.
BMI to london heathrow and cyprusairways direct about €370 last time i checked. Cyprus airways have 2 flights daily from heathrow and 1 from stanstead.
If anyone is looking for cheap car hire try economycarrentals.com done me a very good deal last time. Although as October is the end of season most of the hire firms out there were offering cheap car hire anyway.
Right, I've managed to book Cyprus for EUR450pp. This is departing London with Cyprus Airways, for 8 days in a 2 bed apartment in Protaras and includes car hire!
Fair enough if you have to travel from Ireland to England first, add on EUR100 approx. it's still a good deal. And no profit made by the Travel Agents!
Sites used, www.cyprusairways.com / www.holidaylettings.co.uk / www.economycarrentals.com
Gery McMahon travel quoting FROM €829 for 3 nights self catering, Cyprus Airways + BMI €300 Hotel €150 = €379 for coach transfers and a €15 match ticket. Must be some coach!! Maybe Stringfellows are providing the entertainment free on it.
I was in cyprus last october went with globel travel and really enjoyed it. apartments where pretty decent i tought.we also got a game of soccer organised against a group of lads from cork.and made some good friends with a group from sligo. i booked again for this trip in october.this time went through the internet and managed to get flight and apartments for 380 euros.staying in ayia napa this trip in the euronapa apartments does anyone what there like.
