What about availability of tickets for this one lads? 50cent a pint will probably go down well with the fans so this trip might be popular. Stadium holds about 20,000 doesn't it?
Stadium holds 30,000, demand for tickets will depend on timing of the game, is it a Saturday is it near the end of the group etc. Remember Swtizerland last time we only brought about 4 or 5,000 to the game as it was midweek and early on in the campaign. However when it was the final game there was nearly 13,000 there. So all these factors come into play but as G Spain has said the only 2 games in recent times that were tought to get tickets were Swiss away 2003 and Belgium away 1997. Both were practically play off last ditch games.
I dont see a problem with this one. Prague could be more tricky as that only holds 20,000 however the Czechs have poor support.
Basle the last time we didnt even sell our allocation as far as i remember only 2200 travelled cause most were going to paris .. I gave away tickets for that game cause i was left with a few ... The main problem will be the czech game ..Quote:

Flying to Vienna is also another option - only 40 miles from bratislava. Ryanair fly this route from London - Won't be selling flights for a while though
The Vienna on the Ryanair is actually Bratislava as its on the border and its only 9km to Bratislava from this airport whereas its 45 mins to Vienna. They may advertise it as Vienna as thats where the tourists want to go. Like Frankfurt hahn or Brussels is really Charleroi
All roads lead to Central Europe.
Friend of the Irish budget traveller since 1999 or 2000 and their 07:00am 08:00am departures from Dublin Airport, Malév Hungarian is still valid.

Don't be suprise to see travel agents rightly selling trips on the Danube from/to Budapest ( from Bratislava).
The stadium looks good though

Sky Europe fly direct to Bratislava from Dublin but you won't be able to book for Sept 2007 until alot closer to the date.
Game isnt even in Bratislava .. Gonna be in trnava which is about 50km from bratislava ... can only hold 18,500 and prague 20,000 so thats gonna be fun getting tickets ..
In The Star this morning;
Slovakia V Ireland will take place in the Anton Malatinsky stadium in Trnava about 50 k from Bratislava. This is due to the fact the the Bratislava ground will be closed for renovation.Unfortunatly the stadium in Trnava according to worldstadiums.com only holds 18,448 all seater.

Trnava travel tips
Getting there
By car: Take the main highway east from Bratislava and look for signs to Trnava around the 20 km mark, (30 minutes).
By train: The fast trains towards Zilina take 35 minutes from Bratislava to Trnava and run several times a day.
I dont think the Slovaks or the Czechs are big into going to their home games and I think we will get tickets no prob for these games. The Scots brought over 10,000 to Prague and they all got tickets. I think it will be similar to Cyprus.
so the debate now is to stay in bratislava or tvarna? seems accessible from bratislava
As the two games are only 5 days apart. Would it not make sense to travel out to one of either Slovakia or Ch. Rep. ,be based there, and travel from there to the other country for the match? Just a thought.
No you want to experience both countries, did it once years ago spent 2 weeks in Malta and got a day trip from Malta to Croatia, should have done it the other way round Zagreb was fantastic crack apart from the 5th minute of injury time. Malta is a kip hope we never draw them again, first time out there was 89 aldo scored his first goals for ireland, it was a kip then and gets worse everytime we go back!
Yeah I agree, stay in Prague and in Bratislava and see both cities as well as seeing Tvarna.
i tried looking up accomodation in tvarna but had no luck.found a website for trains in slovakia. www.kvc.sk. tvarna is only 46mins from bratislava. last train at night around 11 o clock and they start at about 3-4 in the morning.Quote:

You only had to say it, not type it as well! ;) (Yes, I know it was a copy and paste job...)
Well Its clear in my mind now as i dont want to offend the Slovaks when I arrive.
But can you pronounce it when drunk at 4am??
Only one way to find out!
ill meet you at 4am then , ill be under the table on the left hand side of the bar with a big grin on my face!!

ok lads whats the up to date on this:
slovakia game: date and venue?
czech game; date and venue?
is everyone looking at doing a double on this i.e fly out to slovakia and back from prague?
Definite double header!! Dont forget lads there is a direct flight into Belfast from Prague, with www.jet2.com could be useful if/when Ryanair, aerlingus et al bump up prices for fans travelling to/from Dublin
in fairness ryanair dont up prices they stick to the first X no of seats ate at the lowest price and so on, they put seats on sale about 7 months in advance, so you just need to be quick, currently they fly to bratislava on a thurs and tues only, may have to got thru stansted for this one!
Skyeurope.com also fly out of Dublin to Bratislava direct, again like Forever Dreaming says, you'll need to be early for this one
So where's the best place to stay?
Stay in Bratislava and travel to Travna
And then Train up for Prague game?
Or stay few nights Bratislva And couple of Nights In Prague?
Which would be cheaper?
Lad's i've just booked 6 nights in prague from 07.09.07 - 13.09.07 in 4* hotel, Is there much travelling involved to see both games using prague as my base??
Let me know if any info!!!
does anyone have any idea when these tickets will be offered for sale?
Meanwhile, Slovakia coach Dusan Galis hopes the Czech Republic's visit will inspire fans to attend after its stadium was less than 10 percent full for the team's 6-1 win over Cyprus.
Galis said he wants Saturday's victory to "awake public interest and bring a full house against the Czech Republic" after only 4,000 people were at Bratislava's 50,000-seat Tehelne Pole stadium.
Pity they are not playing the game there .
Just found this site
/www.ticketportal.sk/
It might be usefull if tickets are in short supply.Looks like its the slovakian version of (greman eventim) Once I logged on it was allowing me buy tickets for the Slovakia v Germany game :D :D :D
