Well they have p***ed all over everyone else they have played to date in the AUL Winter tournament ! Firstly the U-19's scored then Raheny-Shamrock Rovers grabbed two goals and the Under 19's equalised.Quote:

What you say is largely true numero. There are not that many lower league clubs involved. St.Catherine's for example have just been promoted to the Premier so they will be a top flight team in 2006 . Raheny and Rovers merged for this competition as I understand because Raheny had so many players in the Under 19 squad, and Rovers had not managed to sign enough players in time to field a team for the competition on their own. So sooner than lose two participants effectively only 1 has been lost .
Peamount's top striker is with the Under 19's for example. But what that does do is give fringe players at these clubs competitive football at a high level. Like the coach of Raheny was quoted as saying, the short summer season was seeing some girls lose interest in soccer ( especially fringe squad players). What having to play the Irish Under 19's does and lose your selected players to them into the bargain, means you as a coach (if you are one of course) get to see what strength in depth (if any) your squad has.
Noel King is trying to set up a friendly for our ladies against Raheny just to see what level we are at. Are Raheny good??
Raheny ( with all their Under 19 internationals on board) walked the Premier A Division last season. They are likely to be a force in this season's Premier.Quote:

You can never have enough goalies hon. I am secretary of a Women's soccer club. One season I signed 4 specialist keepers as well as an outfield player who was good in goal in emergencies. Used the latter and 3 of the 4 specialists that summer season.Quote:

CTID - Regarding teams playing in AUL comp - Cabinteely, St Vincents, Stella Marris and St Catherine's were not playing in premier division 2005 summer season. Templeogue were - but were relegated. That is not to insult the teams, I'm sure they have some fine players. Peamount are weakened because of the loss of players to u19 and are missing some other key players (and yes of course it is great opportunity for fringe players). So CTID, what i'm saying is not "untrue". The likes of Dundalk, UCD are missing, who are possibly the top two teams in the country.
Shamrock Rovers were in 2005 premier div while Raheny stormed to Premier A title
Raheny Rovers first eleven is roughly half-and-half of both teams, i've heard it varies depending on availability of players
Correction.. Templeogue were not relegated at the end of 2005 season. If they opt to go down to Premier A in 2006 that will be an entirely different matter. DCU went down having struggled with numbers all of last summer.Quote:

Stella Maris were in the Division in 2004 and the others you mentioned include sides which have been very successful at underage level
UCD are not in the Competition because they are involved in the All-Ireland Universities Premier Division run by the WSCAI so would not be able to field a side at this time. As regards Dundalk I am not sure why they didn't enter.
One of two of their players are in the Under 19's if I am not mistaken.

players of 14-17 often do not have the physical stength of sides who have players in their late teens, twenties and thirties - as i said in the last post there are great players on the teams in question, but some of them might still be quite young and not totally physically developed.
You were the one saying the u19 had '****ed' all over other teams, not me.
Re Templeogue, fair enough. Good team, and a very young team at that.
At the end of the day, I'm right to say the oppostion for u19 in AUL league is not as challenging as it could be, aside from the Raheny-Rovers selection. if results prove me wrong i'll stand corrected!
Ok Dundalk , UCD and Benfica are missing from last season's Premier Division in the AUL Winter Competition.
Benfica field a team in the Wexford and District Premier Division since the start of the 2001/2002. Last winter season they won the runner-up double,coming second in the League and being beaten in the League Cup Final. They currently head the Division, and won their second round Wexford Cup tie last weekend.

You responded by saying my comments were "largely untrue". I think I've proved that what I said was actually largely true - and now you are agreeing, saying teams can't be forced to enter the league, which of course they can't.
All i was doing was pointing out facts. At the end of the day it is good for the u19 national team to have any competition, even if the standard varies, because they head into UEFA action later in the Spring.
Not a politician... If you re-read my post you will see that I said your comments were largely true but corrected one or two of your assertions.
