Would be a popular result if Dundalk could get a point or 3 in Galway and help half the division that are going for the title.
Can Rovers beat Shels on Sunday, bottom line after a season of not stepping up this is the l;ast chance saloon...i think we will baserd on Shels form and their selection problems.
Harps need UCD to do them a favour and beat Bray to keep HArps play off hopes alive, a lot might come down to is Finner back
What is that for?
His last game he came off injured after a collision, im pretty certain, definitly wasnt sent off
For being a horrible rovers c@&t
Based on what I saw last night I would fancy Shamrock Rovers to at least take a draw off shels. Bradley showed his calmness in bringin on the subs!
Pat Hickey continues to be one of the most influential players in the league. His rise has been nothing short of sensational.
Galway haven't been any better than Dundalk in the first half but just had one decent ball into the box and when you've got such a talented beanpole in your team that's often all you need.
Excellent free kick by Duffy to give Derry the lead
Another great strike by Duffy to surely seal the cup final place. Chorazka maybe could’ve done better with it but wasn’t helped by the famous Dalymount mound in that 6 yard box
Young Eoin Kenny does his aul lad a favour by taking 2 points off Galway right at the death!
I’ll never forget Galway United’s 4 day title charge of 2024
The longest we've been in a title race since I became a season ticket holder in the late 90's! 3rd with three left to play, not too bad for a promoted team.
Ah been a great season and not over yet
You can actually pinpoint the exact moment that Johnny Wards heart got crushed :).
Oh well, you'll always have 1991..
Well done derry, what's another year, in the cup final.
Derry much the better side in Dalyer
Alan Reynolds hasn’t a ****ing clue how to set up a football team.
From watching them against Dundalk... Galway and Shels should be nowhere near top of the table.
Neither team, have anything about them to finish off games. Shels squeaked by last month, and Galway got caught tonight.
Its obviously shaping up for the Dundalk double greatest escapes and a last night showdown top and bottom of the league....
Appropriate in a way that as soon as they got to second place in the league, they choked. Typical of everyone this season.
Decent game at the Bowl - Bray the better side in the first half, but thought we finished stronger and missed a penalty late on. Still confirms us in the play-offs, which is nice after four defeats in five games (and not scoring in those four too)
Treaty full value for a result away to Cork City.
Must get the window-lickers to call for the manager's head more often.
Bohs to me look more like a SOD team rather than a Reynolds one in terms of how they set up and play. And in certain passages it can look good but they're blunt up front and are quite individually weak (or inexperienced, at least) in defence which isn't the greatest mix for actually producing results.
Derry and their 40 team talks a game remain funny to me. You'd think they'd be able to put together a lot more coherent performances than they apparently have this season given all of the additional coaching Higgins fits in every game.
Shamrock Rovers win on Sunday:
1. Shelbourne 33-54 (< +11)
2. Shamrock Rovers 33-52 (> +10)
3. Derry 31-50 (+17)
4. Galway 33-50 (+5)
5. Pat's 32-47 (+8)
6. Sligo 32-47 (-7)
Shelbourne win on Sunday:
1. Shelbourne 33-57 (> +11)
2. Derry 31-50 (+17)
3. Galway 33-50 (+5)
4. Shamrock Rovers 33-49 (< +10)
5. Pat's 32-47 (+8)
6. Sligo 32-47 (-7)
Draw on Sunday:
1. Shelbourne 33-55 (+11)
2. Derry 31-50 (+17)
3. Galway 33-50 (+5)
4. Shamrock Rovers 33-50 (+10)
5. Pat's 32-47 (+8)
6. Sligo 32-47 (-7)
Terrible result for Galway last night in their bid to cause as upset. Pat's now have a game in hand to go above Galway on goal difference in the race for Europe. Pat's on their current form could still make the Top 3.
Very small chance of 5 teams on 50 points on Monday week
That was brutally deflating last night. One could see from about 30m to go that Dundalk were starting to grow into the game, and we let them. A poor, huff and puff performance against a team that are certain to go down. We should have won 3-0 but we can hardly score 1. There were 3 or 4 wild shots nearly blasted out onto the Dyke Rd by the same player when all that was needed was to recycle possession in an attacking position. Dreadfully wasteful. Expectations need to be tempered for sure, and look where we are despite just being promoted, but last night was caveman football by us for long stretches and it gave Dundalk just enough of a window to sneak a draw. The boos at the end were evidence of a game that was just thrown away with complete abandon.
Ex St Pats keeper Jaros just making his Liverpool debut replacing an injured Alison
I was amazed Dundalk got a result, but full credit to the team who kept on going, and given the awful week and most of Sept, it was great to wake up at last on Sat am without having a defeat to think about, going out to my under age football.
Looked like it came off Kenny's left shoulder too, that 'header' , still he put himself in there and fair due and so late also.
Not all bad news for Galway, with Derry's win last night they'll def be favs for the cup, that opens back up 4th spot for euro if they win, then it will be the team finishing 5th missing out.
Good point for Treaty in Cork, having missed the last 2 games glad to get to this one even if conditions were poor. While those last few games have yielded a decent haul of points the fact is the games had no edge or drive to them as was the case last night in Turners Cross. The season is petering out , has seen a poor return despite an experienced squad signed by the current manager.According to himself and the Treaty PRO plans afoot for nest season, maybe in the meantime he will start to show more ambition and practice his interview technique amonst other things.
Longford are back up to 9th after an equaliser in the final 10 minutes against Athlone. Athlone stay third. Athlone are home to Cork next and Longford welcome Cobh.
Looked to me like Galway got caught in "Sure it's only dundalk" territory on Friday night. Never really pressed home their
obvious advantage after hickey goal.
Young Kenny seems like he's a player and wouldn't be surprised if a top 3 team takes him from op.
