New thread, let's get the new season gossip off to a start.
Any idea when opening weekend will be?
CBL have announced weekend 26/27 august. Nice long break give people chance to get sorted.
Presume AUL will be 6/7 August?
AUL will probably start up around middle of August alright. Some teams wont have long finished!
Hopefully there are a few more refs and that the divisions are sorted out, 12 teams in division 3 was just too many.
Any word on who some of the new teams coming in are?
One team I heard was Boher Celtic based in twopothouse. Also heard Hibs are joining up with South coast and starting up again.
Again let's be straight till its confirmed it's just talk .
Me, South Coast are going to use the old remaining pitch down in Hibs.
Boher possibly, Kilbrittan as well putting in sides. Be great if it's true.
Let's just wait and see if the AUL man up an adjust the leagues accordingly.
What I will say , the AUL as a league has to ensure that its divisions are competitive.
Let's not cheapen ourselves.
Iv won leagues an cups, I wasn't handed them from teams who didn't want to field a team. I had to claw them from teams who didn't want to give them up.
Lastly , there's knowone leaving , cause there's know where to go.
Talk is very cheap an hence rumors are laughable and in full flow.
Really , honestly please even posting some of these things are comical.
One thing supporting your team , another the rest of us laughing at ya posting tripe .
Side note
Armagh v Galway ,,,,some game in fairness
Hi guys, long time lurker first time poster. I’ve played AUL for near 20 years now and this season gone was one of the most exciting I’ve seen overall. Obviously the referee and fixtures situation wasn’t the best but to be fair to the AUL they handled it as best they could. It was good to see some good traditional AUL clubs like Banteer, Killumney, Blackpool, Grangevale, Shandon and Los Zarcos all have successful seasons. As for the new season it’s hard to know what the divisions will look like come the start of the season with teams falling away and more coming for elsewhere. If Hibs and South Coast are merging will they be dropping to Div 3 or will they be placed elsewhere? Anyone have any predictions for next season?
We will have to see the tables for winning predictions.
I predict the weakest quality 1st, 2nd &3rd Divisions of all time for a start.
Agreed. Promoted teams like Killumney, Shandon & Los Zarcos should all give consecutive promotions a good rattle. Grangevale & Blackstone will go close in divisions 1 & 2 after just missing out this season.
Confirmed return date of Tuesday August 16th.
Be interesting to see the divisions as 3 new teams rumoured in Boher Celtic, Kilbritan and Rathcormac.
You would an joint south coast and hibs team will be premier A as south coast survived up there on their own.
And also talks of 3 going to second from the 3rd to balance things out.
If they are in as Hibs then I would imagine it will be Hibs and be second division. Unless numbers dictate and they leave them in 1st Division.
The AUL will seek to find out via player reg forms who the players are they won’t just let teams drop and be too strong for a division two sections below.
Surely if South Coast pull the plug and they all end up with hibs the worst they will
Do is leave them in division 1.
There is 2 teams gone from 1 and two from premier.
They are going to have to fill from the bottom up to level up the divisions
So I can’t see them offering a joint hibs/ south coast team a handy drop to Division 2.
South Coast manager taking it, so basically it's South Coast folding and Hibs returning.
Fair enough all depends what the AUL do with them so.
There will be a big reshuffle needed to make up the divisions.
If South Coast are gone and hibs remain leaving them in the 1st seems the most logical choice
As it stands premier will have 9 teams
Premier A 8 ( without Southcoast)
Division 1 ( 8 teams without hibs)
Division 2 ( 8 teams could be 9 if 3 from 3rd division or hibs go down)
Division 3 ( 12/13 based on 3 new teams and deposit on number of promotions)
All these numbers are depending on only 1 team going down with the exception of Premier A where two teams folded as did the 1st division but we are lead to believe hibs are back
Of course more teams folding will upset things further.
You can see them pushing for divisions of at least 9 teams anything less will lead to 3 rounds of fixtures.
And the AUL felt division 3 was too big already so more changes are possible
Greenwood, Springfield and Corkbeg all going Premier as well I hear so that would sound like a 10 team Premier.
Wouldn't leave much in Premier A if Southcoast, Central, Glen and Dunbar are gone. Would need 4 or 5 to go up in each division from there it seems.
They won't know til all teams apply back, wonder will any others fall. Hopefully not.

Would be ideal if there was 10 in Premier and 9/10 in the other divisions then. Just putting up another few teams in each section. Grangevale, Hibs and Cathedral would all be very competitive in the Premier A also.
The Mossie format is being changed this year also. Being divided into two separate cup competitions, one cup for Premier and another for Premier A and will be run on straight knock out. Brings down the number of games needed to be played.
10 refs confirmed for the season which is good news
If central go along with south coast the premier A will only have 6 teams If you relegated no team and have 2 promoted.
You would then need 3 more teams which would have to come from division 1.
And this then will have a knock on effect all the way down.
Huge changes coming if this is true.

Is the mossie being split into two groups, facts lads or hear say. It seems to be starting up very soon again. Would it not be better to start back the end of September so players can spend the summers with their families. On another note If I was asked to go up a league after finishing mid table in my respective league I would be refusing point blank. Dunbar are a perfect example of that, kilmichael another. I could be wrong but I think south coast were another sent up 2 years ago and it’s clear it didn’t work out for any of them.
Whether it's split or not, it will be knockout.
It has to come back when it is. Far prefer finishing in May than late June and jammed with night games.
There is a winter break be it 3 or 4 weeks this season.
Timing is fine. Post COVID lockdowns this summer was going to be short.
How many refs are confirmed?
any msl news? rockmount picking up any more players?
Where did you here about the 3 or 4 week break,Jesus I'm way behind with all the info. It should start later every year. Players with children will still be available June because their children are still in school. They are off July and August and that's when teams are training hardest and trying to sort their best team out in pre season. Fellas with kids can't feck off 3 times a week when the kiddies are home from school just seems to make more sense to me.
That's why we have the different levels and tiers across the associations.
Those that can commit and go above and beyond added to their talent play at the highest level. Those that can't or aren't at the better end of the ability scale play AUL, CBL, lower MJL, astro, etc.
Going back end of September wouldn't appeal at all, two months in and peak games off kick in.
A lot of teams drop off after Christmas too once they've had a bad start, it separates the best from the rest coming back after Xmas ready to train, many don't it seems.
Interestingly the AUL have the final tables up on the website and confirm 7 teams withdrew from the start of last year that’s nearly a whole division gone.
Whatever way you look at in there will be a big shake up in the divisions!!
Are many teams back?
Some teams were late finishing up.
Couple back training have even see Grangevale have played a game and they were late finishing up!
I see Killbritain have confirmed on FB, interesting to leave the WCL.
Hibs are back training be interesting to see where they are put
Bosco's all but out of Premier, Hoping to combine remainder A & B teams to re-group in Div 1
This is the thing that’s drives me nuts about the AUL.
If what we hear about hibs/ south coast and Boscos is true.
They seem to be in a bit of trouble in the level they are at.
So they say right let’s drop down a few divisions not even 1 division.
Get ourselves on a bit at a run in a division where we will be very competitive and probably too strong for and end up back where they started but at an expense of clubs trying to go up the right way.
This stagnates the whole process and thus you end up losing clubs.
Ya agree with you on some of those points I remember Glen Celtic doing something similiar and wasn't a fan of it as they just steam rolled through the divisions
Cant comment on the Hibs / South Coast situation.
If Bosco's were to remain in the Premier I think they would struggle to field a team and almost certainly get relegated. I.E a big difference in them and the rest of the league similiar situation to Dunbar this season.
With them dropping down and the loss of player and struggling to attract new players.
I think they would be competitive at that level Div 1 but certainly won't running away with anything.
I think it's looking mainly like there second team (Div3 mid table) from last year and 3 or 4 of the 1 st team that are well in their 30s.
Only alternative is to disband which is another club gone from the league which is a worse situation
