I wasn't very impressed by Bohs last week in home leg. Against my better judgement put money on win & draw
Be surprised if they came back now.
Gent 3 up now
3 - 1 . Byrne!
All Bohs need is one more goal. I hope they get it. There's still time. It would be great for LOI football if they did.
We're just more serious. :pQuote:

Gent are not great team. Gent were no better or worse than teams faced by eL sides in recent years.
Bohs needed to win by more than 1 goal 1st leg.
They didn't push through to chase a second goal at Dalyer, which unfortunately leads to this :( They were the better side at home, if they kept on going for it the 2-0 would have been closer than the 1-1.Quote:

Yeah the home leg cost them, they should have pushed forward more then.
Was today a case of Bohs getting a goal then going all out for another and being unlucky or was the goal simply against the run of play in a fairly easy win for Gent I wonder?
ufl lads
Gutted for Bohs - really hoped they'd get through. Hard luck lads. :(
Bad result for Bohs. At least it has no effect on the co-efficients.
As the first Irish fully professional club to get real results in Europe I am very disappointed at Bohs result against Gent.
Didn't Gent do the exact same against Pat's a couple of years back?Quote:

Gent lost at Richmond Park 3-1 and won the home leg 2-0 then. That was in 2002 or 2003, probably a Pats fan can specify.
Too bad for Bohs, if they'd have pushed through the second round was a reasonable one as well (Czech or Belaruse club) and the third round meant a clash with Valencia. Imagine how many euro Bohs could have gotten from ticketsales and TV if they'd have played Valencia... And it would be great for Irish football, I bet many football fans that don't follow the EL may have turned up at Dalymount if a local side plays a giant like Valencia.
first EL team not to progress in the intertoto in 4 years.
well done bozos, made a show of the league in europe again.
best bit was they were already going to valencia on gyppo web, gent and the eastern europeans were a mere formality.
The big pub...:rolleyes:Quote:

Unfortunately, Bohs didn't...Quote:

General consensus between us all there was that there was something in the area of about 400 Bohs fans at the game.Quote:

When we finally did decide to play (for about the last 20 minutes of the second half) - we dominated - as we did for big periods of the first leg.
Stonewall penalty not given when the Herpoel (the Gent keeper) took Grant out of it off the ball.
Missed an open goal from 6 yards three minutes from time (if anyone had got anything on it - it would have gone in - and we would have progressed).
Unlucky to lose out in the end - but a good time was had by all.
To all the decent fans on here (Shels, Athlone, Pats, Galway, Cork, etc.) who were cheering for us over both games - fair play - thanks for the support - which will be reciprocated in kind.
On the other hand - to all the Rovers fans on here having a go at us and sticking the boot in (who'd have thought eh, Rovers fans sticking the boot into someone) - enjoy your BIG overnighter away trip to Bray - bunch of minnows.
Hope you choke on your eviction notices
Oh dear, oh dear, I wasn't going to bother sticking the boot in but that bitter little rant is too much of an invitation.Quote:

BTW there was no eviction notice, there was a weasly half-hearted warning letter. Hilarious considering you need our money more than ever now.
And yes we will enjoy our little jolly-up to Bray, thanks for your best wishes. We'll send you a postcard as long as you promise to send one from Valencia. ;)

Just three defensive howlers and a goalkeeper saving a soft one on the line that if anyone had have got anything onto it would have gone in and we would have progressed on away goals.Quote:

Now which stadium shall i post the card to? Better give me a list of ones you're yet to be thrown out of so I can post cards to each one.
In fairness, I don't see how losing to Gent - a team from the tenth-ranked league in Europe compared to our 42nd ranking - is a disgrace!Quote:

In the CL and UEFA Cup, the eL teams need to win games, rather than scrape by with draws. Even one win in Europe is better than two draws and going through on the away goals rule (3 pts vs 2).
Have to agree, losing to Ghent isn't disgraceful. Unlucky not to win by more than the single goal at home, managed to score away, and if it wasn't for some "dodgy" defending they could have progressed comfortably. Disappointing but not disgraceful.
They gave me red cheeks though when i had to face my fellow Belgian expat colleagues on Monday  (I was the only one chosing Bohs' side)
whatever you're into boy :DQuote:
