Lads, absolutely no disrespect to any of the Dublin teams but Cork City lead the EL by eight points. Are the TV cameras so heavy that they can't find the transport big enough to bring them to Turner's Cross??? :confused: And Derry are also right up there - why not a live game from the Brandywell too???

There should be a limit to the amount of times that a club can be shown. They should have waited a week and taken the cameras to the Brandywell for the North West derby.
i agree with you's aswell, dublin teams get to much coverage!! bohs got their first two games of the season on tv and havn't got a look in since! i think bohs v shels should have been on telly!! but apart from bohs cork and derry should be on the box as they are well up their this season and would be exiting to watch!
Dublin teams get the coverage because that's where most of the audience, such as it is, lives (and believe me, I would prefer to see other parts of the country take some of the pressure of 'progress', but that's a different story.)Quote:

Crazy "decision" by Setanta. Especially stupid because the 2 treams only played in the cup last week. Drogs & Pats is now mid table clash so have to question how the FAI can allow a tv deal that is biased towards dublin teams. By this logic Setanta would continue to show dublin teams even if all in bottom half of the table. Since tv means greater exposure to team sponsors it seems to give dublin teams an unfair advantage.

Setanta should be showing more teams than just Shels yeah but two things, 1) At least they're showing the EL, and lots of it. They do a good job and are like Sky, always focus on the positive aspects of the game, it can only help promote the game and 2) This is a very important game for the destination of the title, you can't argue too much with the fact it's on.
They should be showing more of Cork though, the Longford game should be on instead of the game they're showing on delayed transmission, Pats v Derry I think.
No no, they sholdnt be showing Cork,we never live up to expectations when we're on tv. Cant understand why its Shels again (although you could argue its 2 v 3 in the league). I wouldnt mind them showing a Bohs game, they are on good form at the moment.

The bottom line is that Setanta have some sort of misguided love affair with Shels and are just too bloody lazy to leave the Pale for games. To be fair - facilities at grounds other than Tolka are probably not helping either, though
Well the assumption is based on the fact that Setanta is available in more homes in Dublin than in the rest of the country because of the way the basic cable packages work.
As for the Man U and Liverpool argument the difference is that there's a lot of Man U and Liverpool fans in London and the UK has a wider population spread.
Furthermore while Derry and Cork would attract interest from viewers other than their fans (one assumes their fans would already be interested) because of their league positions the likes of Bohs and Rovers can still draw a comparatively significant TV crowd in Setanta's target market (although not so much ABs but certainly C1s) which at present is heavily oriented around the Dublin area. This is despite the comparatively inferior displays by both these clubs this season.
I've already said there seems to be a bit of overkill with Shels but that's not their problem.

RTE only want to show the run in, imo Setanta should get priority on all top of the table clashes in the run in as their putting the effort in now and fair play to them for that.

Is it every quarter-final from the FAI Cup is supposed to be live? That'll ensure a good spread of teams. The FAI semis are usually on live and are usually decent games...? (Never got to watch one because we're always playing in the league at the same time... :( )
Still, good to see a fair few games being shown though. Credit where it's due.
What about the FAI cup Stu, Shels v Derry was shown on TG4.
I think 7 FAI cup games were to be shown this season, which could have worked out as every quater final/semi final and the final on live, but Shels v Derry has been shown so there's 6 cup matches left.

You might want to read the entire post. Over the course of the season Bohs have been inferior to Derry and Cork. I'm not claiming Bohs haven't had a good run over the past eight weeks.Quote:
