Making the bench at BMG, 3 caps for Ireland U19s (clearly identifies as both German and Irish). Could be one to watch.

I absolutely love the part in that article where it sets out that the wheels were put in motion by his granddad talking about him in a pub. Cracker.
Tis a grand auld country, especially if you know someone who knows someone.
Sounds 100% committed to us right through the article and then blows it at the end with a reference to potentially playing for the Germans. You end up wanting these dual national players to be good, but not too good, just in case.
Noss has had a good start to the season with Borussia, even if it's only pre-season. Hopefully it stands to him, as I don't think his couple of outings for the 21s were particularly amazing, despite plenty of justification for the call-ups/
Naturally it'll take a while for him to fully integrate into the set-up.
Borussia Moenchengladbach's opening game of the season is a German cup tie against Kaiserslautern at 7:45 tonight, will be broadcast on Premier Sports
Hopefully we'll see Noss make his senior debut
Not really, he was named on the bench for them a few times in the 2019/20 season as well
I see they have a scally No 29
I assume no connection
Joe scally from NYC
Sky are streaming Monchengladbach's game against union Berlin for free today
Noss named on the bench, currently 2-0 down

Today is his day. I have a feeling
It's hard to know what to feel about Noss. He's shown glimpses of a very tidy player for the 21s/19s but hasn't ever done much of note and is in and out of the team.
There must be something there though if he's on the fringes of a good Monchengladbach team
89th minute appearance.
Is that his senior debut?
Trying to think who the last Irish person to play in the Bundesliga was?
Patrick Kohlmann played - or was in the 2. Bundesliga?
Struggling for another, though there's probably someone obvious I'm missing
Noel Campbell for sure? Cologne wasn’t it???
Linked with a loan move to Schalke now. Couldn't do any harm.
If he plays then brilliant. they are a big club in a bad place at the moment
Interviewed on Borussia's website after making his second appearance for them yesterday

Scored in a friendly against Ukraine for Monchengladbach yesterday. Ukraine are preparing for the World Cup qualifier and nations league games
Nice finish from him.
I've been checking, and if he does score in the Bundesliga, I think he'll be the first Irish player to do so?
Can't find any record of a goal for Alan Clarke, Patrick Kohlmann, or Noel Campbell
By the way this is the same Conor Noss who Crawford didnt think was good enough to be in the last U21 squad
This is the midfielders and forwards named in that U21 squad against Sweden: https://www.fai.ie/ireland/news/u21-...eden-qualifier
Of those, only O'Neil had played less minutes then Noss at the time of the squad announcement. He's actually not made his senior debut yet, but he had scored the winner against Sweden in November, which probably kept his position in the squad. Noss came on at the same time as O'Neil in that game, and had a fierce shot saved by the goalkeeper. Five minutes later, O'Neil scoredQuote:
Midfielders: Conor Coventry (MK Dons, on loan from West Ham United), Dawson Devoy (Bohemians), Gavin Kilkenny (Bournemouth), Will Smallbone (Southampton), Ross Tierney (Motherwell)
Forwards: Festy Ebosele (Derby County), Evan Ferguson (Brighton & Hove Albion), JJ Kayode (Rotherham United), Mipo Odubeko (Doncaster Rovers, on loan from West Ham United), Ollie O’Neill (Fulham), Colm Whelan (UCD), Tyreik Wright (Colchester United, on loan from Aston Villa)
You could make a case for including Noss ahead of Kilkenny, Smallbone, or Ferguson, but we did win that game, so Crawford probably knew what he was doing
1st team football can be misleading though. Would I rather have a guy playing 1st team football for UCD or Colchester or someone on the fringes of a Bundesliga team?
Its the Managers job to look at whos actually a better player regardless. Personally I just dont trust Crawford to make the right decisions
