Think you can say that for every game from now to the end of the season. Genuinely think Limerick's squad is better than Galway's, albeit not by much, but big gap in mental strength at the moment: if we go behind, we're going to lose and ship a few more goals in the process. Go ahead, and we'll probably eke it out.
Galway (A)
Hard to know what to want.
On the one hand we get to a cup semi final once every 25 years.
On the other hand our mix of terrible and broken players would have an absolute show made of them by anyone left in the competition. LIVE ON RTE.
What was in Galway the last day? Four or five hundred?? Knock a 0 off the end of it I'd say.
Full live audio analysis at www.mixlr.com/limerick-soccer-live for those not minded to travel.
Yeah. Maybe we'll get to the semi, and maybe the other team will be feeling the pressure far more than relegation threatened Limerick and maybe Shams will have an eye on European places moreso and maybe Cork will keep blipping and they and Dundalk will still have an eye on the league and maybe Limerick will rise to the occasion and maybe the other team won't and maybe we'll get a lucky break and maybe, maybe, maybe.
Honestly, even if it was guaranteed we'd get stuffed in the semi-final away to Cork, I'd still like to get there.
It wasn't too long ago that we took 3 bus loads up to Galway. There's only one going now and it's not full yet. There's so much potential for a really great club here. Not sure certain people see that.
We've got the league game against Cork live on RTÉ to make a show of ourselves before any semi finals if we win tonight.
Lovely to get to the semis. David O'Connor didn't look like too much of a "reject" or "s**tbag" playing in his natural position. I prefer him as a centre half to Whitehead. Home draw would be great, something to look forward to.
Good win, hopefully a shot in the arm for the run-in. Can't realistically hope to get further, but what dreams may come.
Great win, should add some confidence. Hery is a transformed player. Would love a home semi-final, we won't be favourites and can have a real go.
Same formation for Bray next week pls
Great display from start to finish great workrate taught we were going to pay for not taking our chances when we were on top first half, we played some nice stuff second half great second goal defensively best we have been in ages very solid hery very good cotter and tosi also top notch, ogbene continues to frustrate yet again does not work hard enough loses the ball too easy , all in all great night please please home draw no matter who we play will be some occasion if it happens
Thought Hery was immense in midfield tonight, never stopped working and breaking up Galway play.
That was a really good performance in a really good cup tie that I really enjoyed!
What's going on?! :)
Paul O Conor was keeping Bastien out of the side for months.
Analysis: Loose Galway licked by resurgent Limerick: http://bit.ly/2wQ3X1L
Tracy in for the remainder of the season except Pats. Cotter was still error prone why cant we play Dean Clarke?
Great win great tempo. Hery 10/10
Personally thought Cotter was very good still takes too much out of the ball at times when he has an opportunity to play it but good performance. Tracy playing left back and DOC going back to CB makes us look far more balanced and gives us way more opportunity to build attacks from the back.
Think if we had this formation all along things would have been a lot better for McDonald it suits what we have far more. I felt both wingers were a bit disappointing but the central midfield ran the show especially the superb Hery also thought Rodrigo bullied them all night. Was just so refreshing to see them battle and fight for 90 mins.
Great result, lots of positives Duggan looked refreshed, the ever improving Cotter was very good,O Conner commanding,Hery brilliant and the squad well managed by Mcdonald.Good coverage in my[WINDY] ear [7 sec delay]from the vibrant Alan o Brien and Co.Supporters behaviour acceptable though that would not be hard given last weeks disgraceful carry on,time for the club to sort drummer boy out and a few of his elves .Home tie now please .
Are you on commission for every time you lick Alan or is it just something you personally enjoy? I mean fine if you enjoy his commentary but the over the top stuff every single week doesn't half make it obvious you are just pals with him and not actually being sincere.
To be honest I haven't listened since the attempted veiled hatchet piece when players were run out of the club so McDonald could swing his balls around the dressing room. The professionalism angle that was trotted out would hold more water if at least one of the vast army of new players wasn't fond of exactly the sort of behaviour insinuated against those who left. Tis a pity cos Noel O'Connor's insights were genuinely worth listening to.
Isn't it lovely that we're in a semi final though
That's a fair point, the centre half from up north is developing a drinking belly like the drummer in the stand.
I don't listen to AOB but Mick Aherne is starting to lose his voice when he logs off twitter. Constantly whinging about Williams and Kelly, agreeing with suggestions that the manager is a spoofer, etc. When he goes face to face with McDonald with a mic he cowers up fairly quickly, doesn't have the cojones to ask the difficult questions. At least Liam Aherne did after the Derry or Dundalk game.
Who we hoping for?
Cork or Rovers in the Markets Field.
I don't want a home game for two reasons:
1. The ground isn't up to holding one and the matchday would be a shambles.
2. It would be just too painful!
dundalk or shamrock away please.
I want Rovers at home and Tony Izzi up front, Noel O'Connor to sing That Don't Impress Me Much and Mick to fight Alan at half time with Robbie Williams special guest referee. The singer, not the chubby funster own goal scoring gruff Yorkshireman.
Anyone at the last semi in 94? Gaga McCarthy was our main threat but a very young Boyle(celtic and derry) looked after him. We had an O'Neills sponsored kit by supermacs as the kit along with the club were destroyed by the clubhouse fire a few weeks earlier. About 40 traveled from the bus station that day.
Shams or Dundalk away, because I might be able to go to it...
Ah jaysus
Cork away...
The team I wanted to draw but not away **** it tough one ,the other two teams are in good form cork while still top quality are not as convincing since maguire and o Connor went , as long as we go there and give it our all and put in a decent performance like last Friday and not like the last time we were down there
