Waterford United fan here.Kevin O'Brien would probably do a job in division 1 but wasn't good enough for the Premier. The fact that he was the chairman's son didn't help him as he was picked on by some of the fans and there was rumours his presence in the team was causing friction and may have caused problems leading to sacking of Jimmy McGeough. He didn't play that much last season but its probably best for all concerned thats hes moved on.He plays right back or right midfield.
The chap is a decent 1st division player,he had a good 1st half of a season the year we got promoted!!He got a bit of a rough time(more often than not unwarranted) of it from certain sections of the support because he is the chairmans son!!!His best positon is probably right midfield(although some might say as far away from the pitch or bench as possible).Best of luck to him and Limerick for the coming season!!!!
Thanks....now if only that Paddy purcell thing had came true aswell :D
A Blah Blue told me that we should avoid this guy. He was quite vehement about it. Don't know anything more about him - never saw him play - or if I did he made no impact on me.
If we do sign Kevin oŽBrien and apparently according to Gael, CP OŽBrien, I think it is safe to say we will have two of the most disliked players in the league. Next thing you know we will be signing Robbie Savage, now that you think of it...Limerick is closer to his parents home :D
A lot of rumour about this guy being the chairman's son and all.It may or not be true Paul Power and Jimmy McGeough didn't wanna pick him and were both sacked, that Rennie was pressurised to play him Cup Final day,he didn't of course, but some Cup Final preparation eh! or that he was one of clubs highest earners. Also noticeable that he's had more press releases about his departure than any other player who has ever left the club. However, hard facts are,he is, contrary to some of the above posts, not a very good 1st Division player. He is extremely fit but can't pass, head or trap a football.Hate to say I told you so but if Limerick honestly think this is the type of player who will have them seriously challenging this season then....Meanwhile Waterford have Purcell and Heffernan.... life truly sucks in the 1st Division...Up the Blues!
lets wait and see
Lets. ;)Quote:

Or maybe they're both singing at half-time, 'The O'Brien Brothers' anyone? :D

Suddenly the signing of Can't Pass becomes a shrewd marketing move
Charity single anybody? :)Quote:

He played against Cork but I've no idea what his position is at the moment.Quote:

Dressing room probably wouldn't hold both O'Brien egos! :DQuote:

well i hope O'Brien doesn't sign as he looked massively overweight against City and just looked like that guy Brendan Rae who played with Kilkenny some years back.
