Just got a txt that Gavin Dykes is our new assistant manager.
plenty of experience anyway
interesting. plenty of experience, and seems like a fairly pleasant fellow. might be a good choice
Give him control over the defence and you'll be fine.
Under no circumstances let him near the midfielder or the strikers or you'll all be bring pillows and a nice book to the Cross. He is a disciple of Keely and his brand of football reflects this, being firmly of the agricultural variety.
Nice fella though, lots of passion and I hope he works out better as a coach than he has as a manager thus far.
to be confirmed in 4 weeks time :D :D :D
aye, dont expect anything from the club for oh..a year.
:D Wait for the Harps fans to arrive.Quote:

If he can teach our spice boys the value of giving ones opponents a good kicking every now and again. that'll ding dang do for me.
If we just give him the defence and leave the rest alone.
This could be a really bad move for CCFC IMO!!
This is surely a joke?
sure, isnt most of the stories about city jokes at the mo?
Can ANYONE confirm/deny this??? The official site isn't giving away much.
Of course it isnt. No official site should get involved in rumours until it is 100% confirmed IMO. If the admin got involved in dodgy rumours, which turned out to be false, how could anyone have respect for it?
For now this is a rumour, and I'm sure once it has been confirmed and/or someone other than Dykes is appointed the official site will have it there.
If true he will be ASSISTANT Manager (i presume like coach with big title) so he won't be signing players.
City have good defenders but can be erratic at times so if a new person coming in can make them more consistent i'd welcome that.
I'd be surprised if even Dolan can teach George, Kearney, Doyle, O;Flynn or Fenn much about attacking play.
I'd like to see the club have a fulltime coach as i think O'Connor was part-time so probably only available at evenings?
As a shels fan I would be delighted if this news is true. I think the man doesnt have a clue what is going on
From doing interviews and media work he comes across as a complete moron and the way he had Derry playing football with some of the players he signed would have to worry any cork fan.
Cant understand why dolan would want him after people saying that its no use just jumping in for the first free person and that you should wait for the right one???
Very strange
I don't know if more to than we hear but not a good sign we almost lost whole 1st team coaching staff in 6 months.
I wonder who is coaching the team pre-season?
Wouldn't surprise me if Gunther came in as assistant but he might be wary of returning to the spotlight
NOT HAPPENING....

Former Derry City and Finn Harps manager Gavin Dykes has denied rumours he is set to become the new assistant manager at Cork City.
Rumours spread on Thursday and Friday that Dykes was to be named as replacement for Noel O’Connor - who has joined Limerick - after he was seen meeting Cork boss Pat Dolan on Thursday.
The rumours even spread to the Cork City message board on the club’s official website.
But Dykes, a FÁS coordinator in Sligo, insists the rumour is untrue, insisting the pair met purely to discuss business.
He said: “I did meet Mr Dolan and we discussed business. I know he is looking for an assistant but it’s not something I’m interested in. I’m based in Sligo and Cork is simply too far away.
“I’m not looking to get back into football at the moment but if something comes up that interests me, I might throw my hat in once again.”
"business" What the hell business were they discussing if it wasn't the business of football? maybe he was asking Mr Lesbians (sorry, couldn't resist it) advice on players?
Gino O'Boyle perhaps?Quote:
