Do they not teach counting down in Longford then  :D
Robbie Fowler, if for no other reason that his celebration against Everton a few seasons ago!
****ing ar$ehole. I don't see how you could idolise that pr!ck because of his stupid unmeaningful celebration in front of the Everton fans. You're obviously easy pleased when you look up to someone of his nature.
1. Ian Wright (for being the only brightspark when we were sh1te! Selley, Mcgoldrick & Hillier - what a midfield! )
2. Tony Adams (inspirational captain and one hell of a man for how he transformed his life. A definate idol.
1. Dave Barry and 2. Maradonna (just for his football ability, there is nothing i like about the man himself).
If i could pick a team of Football heros it would be Brazil from '82. They played the most beautiful awe inspiring football Ive ever seen. Pity they lost though
fowler, van basten, mattheus, maradona(of course)
My two heroes when I was younger were Michele Platini and Paul Cashin.
Emilio Butragueño..
Luis Enrique
Steve Gerrard, Gerrard..He'll pass the ball 40 yards....He's big and he's fcukin hard..Steve Gerrard, Gerrard!!! :D
Honourable mentions go to Mike Marsh, Davor Suker and Robbie Fowler.
1. Mc Grath
2. Paolo diCanio
Even though I follow the red devils across the pond, Denis Bergkamp, is my fave, the guy can do anything between the half way and the goal ..... remember that goal in the 1998 World Cup against Argentina ? ? Magic ! !
Michele Platini and Paul McGrath.

Brazil 1982 lost for two reasons ... dodgy back four and brutal keeper !Quote:

Dino Zoff... a great goalkeeper, went in International football for 12 1/2 games without conceding a goal. And won a World Cup winners medal at 40 years of age.
If I could pick two Irish heroes it would be Giles and Jennings
I can't believe it took 14 posts before someone mentioned big Paul. Now there's a real genius.Quote:

Not everybody's type of player but just two people I felt were terribly underrated.
1. Digger O'Brien...........what a legend
2. Ronaldinho...............he can do anything with a football and can make a fool of any defender
[QUOTE=Conor74]Well that would be true alright, at least you know your stuff,
Why thank you.
[QUOTE = Conor74]Talk about slaves to English tabloid media rubbish,
Well now we could be talking about most of the country there.
[QUOTE = Conor74]True there were hard men like Hunter, but then again every team had a destroyer back then.
But Conor now I'm surprised at you tut tut, for someone who get's upset about chant's about wife beater's you seem to all of a sudden condone on field thuggery and career ending injury's, bad form.
[QUOTE = Conor74]when he became a little less disciplined and allowed players like Bremner and Giles to express themselves
And that they did indeed.
[QUOTE = Conor74]the Leeds team played some of the most sublime passing football the game has seen.
Ahh i've seen that move v Southampton, is that what you mean.
[QUOTE = Conor74]I suspect the ones who really mean that Leeds play ugly football...and I KNOW you aren't one of them...are the same idiots who still cling to the 'boring Arsenal' notion,
Why thank you again.
Quality, rams legend!! And of course Georgie Mellerick! ;) :DQuote:

Has to be Razor Ruddock.
Though Cormac Cotter would run him close.
Had to have a long hard think about it, but I'm going for Fernando Hierro. I was always a huge fan of Gary McAllister too.
Hierro!, what a dozy goat. Niall Quinn made a monkey out of him.Quote:

DIEGO MARADONA by a mile. I remember around World Cup 90 when I was collecting the stickers and the Maradona sticker was worth 50 normal player stickers. Now thats a sign of greatness if ever I saw one.
Know him well, played for him when he was in charge.Quote:

I normally don't give strangers my name but I'm in a good mood so I'll PM ya
1. Eric Cantona
2. Norman Whiteside
Gordon Strachan -the major piece of the jigsaw that took Leeds out of the wilderness and back to the top.
Owairan -I know it's probably the only thing he ever did -but i could just watch this guys goal, for Saudi Arabia against Belgium at WC94, all feckin' day. Took the ball at the edge of his own 18 yard box and went off for a wee trot with it ...brilliant!
Tony Yeboah -for a bit of a fat lad Tony was great. Scored a stupendous goal against Liverpool at the start of 95/96 that the commentators said he'd never equal. He scored a mirror image of it a few days later against Wimbledon -but this time turned it into a half volley by way of a deft overhead flick that left a Dons defender wondering what planet he was on.
After that Tony did ...well not much really.
But i'll tell ya for that september of 1995 Leeds fans felt something similar to what the USA felt for much of 1945 and 1946 -safe and smug in the knowledge we'd a weapon nobody could match or predict.
Matt Le Tissier and Ricky O'Flaherty :D
