That is pretty mental.
I love that they're pointing out how many people are rushing to disassociate themselves from these 30 ruffians on "the list".

Quote:
Kevin Kiely of BALC is among the group of supporters who are “no longer welcome” and he spoke out against the actions of Limerick FC.He explained: “The group were in the Imperial Bar before the opening game when the chairman entered. He proceeded to tell the lads in the group that they would be moved to a different section of the ground which in itself is no big deal.
“The problems started when one of the group questioned the chairman as to why they were being moved and he took off on a foul-mouthed rant towards loyal fans and paying customers of the club. He was effing and blinding at us.
“We said we’d go to the game that night as the team needed support, but after being treated with a total lack of respect by the club, we decided not to go back.
“We asked for an apology and the club got back to us to ask for the names of people who were in the pub at the time. We sent them the names and they then banned all of us from going to games.
“This is a group of fans which includes children and members of the Limerick Special Olympics soccer team. Most of our lads have spent 10+ years following the club around the country spending huge amounts of time and money.
“The club told us a lie when they asked us for the names of the people in the pub. That was a trick they used to get the names so that they could ban us. We’re basically being stopped from supporting our football club.
“All we want is an apology. We’re not causing bother to anyone and we want to support the team. The team needs our support now more than ever.
“We aren’t asking for much but an apology for being humiliated in public for doing nothing more than wanting to support the club.”
Going by Facebook this has completely blown up in the clubs face. Have talked to a few regulars at games and nearly everyone is pretty ****ed off. Crazy stuff from the club.
A bit like when Mad as Cootes were told not to travel to games by the then Athlone Town manager without committee approval on that occasion. Don't think the club has ever fully recovered from it even though all of us involved continue going to games.
It's all a bit one-sided from the Post though isn't it? Lazy journalism just quoting the statement from the website. Ridiculous behaviour from the club alright, but Kiely's views aren't the only ones out there. Children in that group above in the shed? Come off it Kev... Tabloid stuff from a rag, but even they could have come up with 'a source from inside the club told us...'
Would you not class 12-13 year olds as kids no? And no they weren't in the group in the shed they were on the list the club banned which is the point I was making they have blanket banned people for bad language in the stand that were not even with us in the stand.
Can't see how the post is being one sided when the clubs statement clearly states the club will make no further comment. If the journalist could not get further comment then a statement from the club and one from Kevin Kiely should surely suffice as balance and not be regarded as gutter journalism.
This actually needs to be sorted fairly flippin quick.
Was over on the social meeja there and i dont think ive ever seen such interest in the club.
And I dont see it blowing over too quick because of the list of names. One or two of those lads were going to games in Pike ffs.
A little bit of pride might need swallowing for the good of the club going forward.
As usual, with all things Limerick FC, there are no winners here. :ball:
I couldn't think less of the people running the club right now. I read they might be talking about it on Joe Nash tomorrow? Might be worth trying to get someone to call in from that group if you haven't already arranged it.
That will be a wonderful bit of pr aswell, sliding around in the gutter with that useless worm nash
I'd say the club is desperate for the story to go away to be honest, hence the "no more comment" stuff. The reaction on the club's Facebook page is crazy negative.
I'll be staying out of it on here from now on anyway just wanted to be fair to the lads at the Post. Hopefully will be sorted soon so we can just get back to supporting some football.
Yes it was

Only bit of advice i can give to the lads that were banned is ignore that bulls•it statement and slip away in to the ground the next night and get behind the lads like ye always have and I guarantee the heroes behind that statement will have no choice but to turn a blind eye.
I'd go along with this, who gives a sh#t what the chairman has to say for himself. Its the team that needs support. He could be gone gone in the next season or two, you'd like to think the team will still be there. This wouldn't be a unique situation in world football where there's conflict between the fans and chairmen/owners, most of the time the fans just continue to do what they've always done. Hopefully this matter is resolved soon, but i'd say you could be waiting a long time for an apology from the POS, so hopefully the fans decide to come back and get back behind the team and ignore what he has to say.
Do Limerick have a Supporters Liaison Officer? All clubs meant to have one as far as I know.
According to the Limerick website Gary Spain is the supporters liaison.
Well considering they watched it from over the CIE wall when other lads who weren't banned stayed at home in unity with them it's all getting a bit daft. I do think they've been wronged and the club has acted stupidly but when it's keeping fellas away it'll get to the stage where there'll be no team to support so we can all stay at home
That's the worry, that there'll be no team to support soon enough. Yep its getting ridiculous at this stage, I think our attendance was lower than a few of the 1st division clubs on saturday.
There was I think 4 of the lads that were outside the ground up in CIE 5 for a while cos I went up to throw the banner over the wall. We asked people to stay away from CIE but can't control everyone individually. Also we haven't asked anyone to stay away from games they volunteered to in support we have told the club we are willing to meet and sort it so if they continue to refuse to and people continue to stay away then it is entirely their doing.
Just for people saying we should just continue to do what we have done too we are banned from games so unless we force our way into the ground that can't happen.
Edit: Just to be clear I know there was way more than 4 people at CIE only 4-5 were from the group banned was about another 10 there that had stayed out of Jackman in support and the usual 8-9 that are there every week.
Don't get me wrong I agree with the stance that has been taken(what happened to ye was disgraceful) and something needs to be done by the club asap but it doesn't look great when even a few of the lads are looking over the wall when others have decided to not attend in support of that group.
I agree 100% with ya on that and I said it to them at the time. I myself stupidly posted a picture of the pitch up on Twitter trying to be funny and have to say I regretted it straight away. Definitely something we need to have a chat about and try and get sorted. Unfair of me to even point out I left tbh I shouldn't have went near the place at all.
