Mentioned this to a west ham following friend of mine. According to him, there's injury problems at upton park at the moment, and Cullen was promoted to make up the numbers, and was not expected to appear today.
Having said that, he is well thought of and could appear next season.
Delivered a great speech after winning the Dylan Tombides award for top young player at WH.
On the bench for the hammers again today

Saw this lad's debut for Bradford Saturday Vs Peterborough & stuck a few words in the Chris Forrester thread.
Started again and finished the game in a 2-0 win v Southend. Bradford with three wins in four now coming out of the pack and are three points off the last playoff spot presently.

West Ham United can confirm that Reece Burke and Josh Cullen have joined Championship club Bolton Wanderers on a five-month loan agreement.

Its great for Cullen and a new 3 year deal. Hopefully Rice can get a loan but with Oxford on loan as well as now Burke and cullen Rice might end up been 5th choice centre half/4th choice defensive mid which might mean he wouldnt get to go out on loan but wouldnt have much football either
Was hoping Bilic had immediate plans for Cullen as he was getting a lot of game-time pre-season but regular football in the Championship is still very promising - gives the management team the opportunity to compare him more directly with some of our other up-and-comers
After a somewhat underwhelming loan period to Bolton, with only 9 starts, good to see that Cullen went straight into the West Ham side for today's FA Cup draw with Shrewsbury, receiving a praise from David Moyes and a kick in the face: https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2018...ullen-hammers/. Would be terrific if he could join Declan Rice in establishing himself in the side for League games. If he can, then he should definitely be in the frame for upcoming friendlies
He didn't play badly despite losing a tooth in the process - you can actually see it flying out. Stopped the bleeding, changed his strip and went back out on the pitch. BBC commentators were impressed.
If the fans forums are anything to go by, he's earned himself a lot of goodwill amongst the West Ham faithful. Not many players would be mad keen to get back out onto the field after getting two teeth kicked out. And, apparently, his efforts were amplified by Kouyate appearing completely disinterested beside him.
Bodes well for Cullen when the fans and the manager are happy with him. He's in with a shot of being involved for the rest of the season.
nice to see him on the bench in league maybe for first time?
Theyre up 3-1. Hopefully he gets a run.
Played the full game as West Ham crashed out against Wigan: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42756107 - I caught the second half and unfortunately he was fairly anonymous with only a handful of touches, mostly just moving the ball on with one aimless cross. MOyes had given a bunch of youngsters a shot and the commentator said that none of them had really stepped up. Hopefully he'll still get a chance in the league at some point soon and takes it.
So a bit of a toothless performance!
There was a rumour online before the cup tie that he would play against Wigan, then go back out on loan.
Cullen's been an unused sub for each league game since he returned to West Ham, and Rice was brought on ahead of him against Watford, even though the Hammers were leading 2-0. Just wondering if he's going to make a league appearance under Moyes before the end of the season
The fact that he's at least kept his place in the squad after the debacle against Wigan is encouraging and hopefully a sign that Moyes has plans for him - I reckon if the Hammers can put some more daylight between themselves and the relegation zone over the next few games, he might give him a few run-outs in the last few games - if that happens and he does well, he might become a candidate for a call-up for the June friendlies against France and the USA.
Off the bench today for his second premier league appearance.
He's the 17th Irish player to appear in the premier league this season, one less than 2016/17
Good to see him come off the bench, even if it is only for some garbage time - hopefully a sign that Moyes has plans for him in the final run-in
He only had a few minutes but looked sharp. Made a couple of tidy passes in advanced positions. As mentioned, great to see Moyes bring him on.
