Shamrock Rovers and St Pats kick off the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division live on RTÉ2 plus the return of Soccer Republic
The 2015 SSE Airtricity League kicks off this Friday 6 March and over the course of the season RTÉ2 will show 17 live games including the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup semi-finals and final. Coverage begins on Friday with live Premier Division action from Tallaght Stadium as Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick’s Athletic face-off in a game between two of the favourites for league glory this year.
Darragh Maloney will be joined by Richie Sadlier and former Hoops manager and Saints assistant boss Trevor Croly while Ger Canning will be joined in commentary by Kenny Cunningham. The game kicks off at 7.45pm with High Definition coverage beginning at 7.40pm.
Monday 9 March sees the return of Soccer Republic (11.05pm, RTÉ2) with Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny joining presenter Peter Collins in studio alongside regular panellists Alan Cawley and Stuart Byrne. The programme will feature all the goals from the weekend’s Premier Division games plus an interview with Robbie Keane and, in a new regular feature, a look at how Irish players and coaches are getting on abroad. The first show in the series will also feature a report on new boys Cabinteely FC’s first game as an SSE Airtricity League club.

According to Soccer Republic, Dery City v Cork City is happening this Sunday at 3pm and it's live on RTE2. Must have been brought forward a few months.
Dundalk v Sligo March 27th, RTE2

Technically they moved the first game from it's original KO time too.
Anything that's not 7.05 is bearable
Jesus, they had it down as 7.45 yesterday. Consistency isn't their strong point.
Would have thought Oriel would have to be shown post watershed.
Just a poor joke Dundalk fans.
Dont knock yerself, made me chuckle with an (almost) agreement! That away section should be blurred out at least for fear of causing widespread nighmares...

The earlier kick off is a easier sell than the later one , watch the game then watch the other game on to with a pint go home earlyish.
Monday afternoon instead of Friday night will knock 500-1000 off the crowd. On the plus side it's another opportunity to indoctrinate my offspring at a young and impressionable age.
Never understood why bank holiday games attract less people. Happens with Rovers too anyway. I know they're out of the routine but they're more convenient than running home from work and back out, etc. Plus parents can bring kids when Friday night might not suit as well.
Bank Holidays, with decent weather, are seen as perfect days/weekend for family trips (either day trips or weekends away). For any floating fan, he/she might prefer* to spend a day with the whole family. We can try and fool ourselves that loads of families go to LOI games but it's still hugely male skewing
*probably not "prefering" but he/she may not have much say
Bohs are now a player down in Dean Kelly due to the change of date for tv, he changed his flight from a Friday to a Saturday to play against cork, he has a family wedding to attend. Now due to this change we are being hindered even more just to suit setanta.
Can't understand why clubs agreed to this or what power setanta have to get this changed.
Participation Agreement?

Clubs do have some autonomy to say no. I know the opening game of last season at Turner's Cross, Cork turned it down because RTE wouldn't give guarantees on dates/times and Cork got fed up so Rovers ended up moving the first game to the Sunday. I'd imagine with something like this the FAI put their foot down though.
There's every chance Setanta might have actually compensated the clubs?
SSE AIRTRICITY LEAGUE LIVE ON RTÉ2 AS CORK CITY HOST CHAMPIONS DUNDALK
Live SSE Airtricity League Premier Division action returns to RTÉ2 tomorrow night (Friday 24 April) for High Definition coverage from Turner’s Cross of the biggest game of the season so far as 2014 runners-up Cork City take on champions Dundalk. Last season’s title decider in Oriel Park between the two sides drew a full house to the Louth venue and a large television audience on RTÉ2 and with both sides again setting the pace this season fans will be hoping for similarly entertaining fare this time around.
Presenter Peter Collins will be joined by Stuart Byrne for analysis. Commentary comes from George Hamilton and Damien Richardson while Tony O’Donoghue will have all the reaction from both camps.
SSE AIRTRICITY LEAGUE LIVE – RTÉ2, Friday 24 April, 7.30pm (KO 7.35pm)
That might deter some Dundalk fans from travelling now. Don't see why they just don't release a list of games at the start of the season that they'll show rather than pick and choose as they please and screw up already arranged kick-off times.
Reeks of a lack of professionalism from RTÉ.
Or waiting to see how things pan out in a notoriously unpredictable league.
Wasn't aware of that, I had assumed it was only announced today. In that case, it amounts to poor advertising from RTÉ.
Would love to see some manager losing it with him. He has it coming at this stage!
They do the same with the Rugby and GAA except it is one of the coaches or assistant thats rolled out during the game. Could be fun with Vinny Perth and Fenlon within shouting distance of eachother.
